Re: “Fire Destroys West Oakland Apartment Building. Multiple Rescues Reported.

After I reported that the fire sprinklers in my unit were painted over by my landlord + a full dozen other building violations the city didn't fix and of the problems. They then assured me that Oakland's Building Department would begin doing preventative inspections to protect its citizens. Lets ask how many of those have been accomplished and to what end.

Re: “Dozens of Renters Lose Homes as City Closes 1919 Market Street Warehouse in Oakland

I have been going through a similar process that resulted in combating the building department and filing a claim against my landlord. In my situation, I believe that Oakland Building Department was directly responsible for my displacement and, as can be seen in this case, they have no regard for the people who's lives they ruin at this building. Instead of applying the correct pressure on the landlord, they are uprooting the tenants. My self and another friend going through similar circumstances are planning on filing a claim against the city for the departments part in exacerbating our situations. If any party in this building is interested we would welcome you joining our claim.

Re: “The Oakland City Council Was Right to Reject Occupy Crackdown

This is not a chicken or the egg argument, the OPD are the aggressors. Police have been historically violent toward protesters (exemplified in the recent history of the Occupy movement) and the people should not be blamed for defending themselves. It is not up for debate.
