Re: “Davis Dysfunction Dooms Raiders Again

You have made some compelling arguments on why this move won't work for this proud team. As a native Bay Arean, Raider fan, and once-Las Vegas resident for 9 years, I agree with you that this will not work in the long-run. Sure, there are some Raider fans who live in Vegas already but many of Vegas' residents are transplants with other allegiances. In other words, they are loyal to their 'own' team already and bringing the Raiders to town won't make them simply switch teams. As a matter of fact, surprise, other fans normally hate the Raiders.

The fans in the Bay have been loyal to this team through thick and thin over the last 23 years (and longer). From the move back from L.A., the highs of the 'Chucky Era I' to the disappointment of the 'Jamarcus Era' and more. What will happen if they continue to be less than great in Vegas? Will Vegas fans show up if they don't have a competitive team immediately? Not a chance. As you pointed out it will be hard to for a team to be competitive when the seats are filled with 25%-40%+ opposing fans in attendance. This could be a very bad business decision for both the team and its new city. Vegas should have an NFL team, but the Raiders belong in Oakland if not the Bay. Vegas should have gotten an expansion team of their own that the locals could support.
