Re: “AB5 is Bad For Journalism

Fine words from a paper that fired all its employees a few months ago.

Re: “The Big Blue Eviction

Offering to pay more rent would do nothing to keep this predatory purchaser from creating more mini-hotels, because what one earns from renting on a per-night basis is still far more than anyone can afford to pay on a monthly basis.

Re: “Former Principal Alleges Oakland's BayTech School Was Source of Funding for Gülen Movement

All of this mess illustrates how privatizing education does nothing but enable people to siphon off tax money into their own pockets or pet causes whatever they may be. None of it should be allowed, no matter the association.

Re: “Best Health-Care Practitioner Trying to Eradicate Chronic Disease

All doctors try to "understand the underlying causes of illness rather than treating symptoms." The human body is incredibly complex and sometimes symptom abatement is the best that can be done while pursuing more knowledge, but "conventional medicine" is engaged in pursuit of that knowledge. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

It's like the old joke: you know what they call "alternative medicine" that works? Medicine. The Paleo diet is more junk science in search of credulous people's dollars, and has little to do with what "cavemen" ate (anyone else read that article about the recent discovery of 14,000 year old bread?)

Re: “Why a Cofounder of Homeroom Now Hosts Free Pasta Friday Dinners

A private event for her friends. Why does this get publicity?

Re: “California Honeydrops' New 'Call It Home' Video Is Full of Love for the East Bay

How about a shout out in the credits to "First They Came for the Homeless," with so many scenes near their camp at the Here/There sign? Or a suggestion in the credits of where folks can donate to support the unhoused folks around here?
