Re: “State Threatens Viability of East Bay Green Energy Program

Utilities should not be private enterprises. All utilities should be owned by the community using them and accountable to the community, not to share holders. PG&E has proven itself not to be trustworthy with our lives. The state needs to take PG&E out of private hands and run it ourselves (yes, ourselves, because we are the state.)

Re: “Rap's Poetic License: Revoked

Just another example of the way racism twists things. Part of the attempt to re-enslave black people. I say this as a 72 year old white woman.

Re: “InterPlaying With Ourselves

InterPlay is fun, educational, life changing, warm, inclusive, and diverse. I've been doing InterPlay for a long time, and gradually, in -- as InterPlay co-founder Phil Porter would say -- incremental steps, I have become stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually. Not to speak of all the wonderful friends I've made!

Re: “Racial Tensions Boil Over at Berkeley High

I think what really is clear here is that Berkeley High School students are aware and ready to step up to talk about issues rather than either pretending they don't exist or being afraid to speak out. The postings on Facebook do sound more like ignorance rather than intentional racial slurs, but the underlying slur is still there. And talking about it, and listening to each other, is the best way to deal with it. Racism is deep in the core of our society. It isn't easy to weed it out. Often it's so subtle that the person uttering the racist remark has no clue. We need to talk and read and listen, and talk and read and listen again to really make our society whole.
