Re: “Rachelle Ferrell Hits Oakland for Three More Nights

There have been alot of great singers who sand sung and writtin alot of great songs .. but in my eyes there are only 2 singers who can really just dig deep into a song and really make u feel it.

On the make side it is Donny Hathaway

and on the female side it is "The Emperess Of Jazz" Rachell Ferrell..

I have always loved the song she did with Will Downing entitled
"Nothing Has Ever Felt"(That she wrote)

but it was the song "Extensions" (also written by her) from her "First Instrument" LP that really really made me pay attention.

Her voice is fantastic and while some singers when they have been singin for years someimes u can hear the decrease in their voice a little but not Rachelle... her voice is like a fine wine it just gets better with age and time.

I wish she would get the recognition she deserves.

When people often list the greatest female singers of all time they often say

Aretha Franklin - atti Labelle - Gladys Knight and others but in my humble opinion and others who know RF's voice im sure will agree that she deerves to be right up there with those names and in my eyes she is.

She has not gotten her just do for her talents as a Vocalist - Pianist - Arranger and Songwriter but while academy recognition would be nice i dont need those awards to tell me or show me that she is one of if not the best of her time and of all time
