Re: “Teachers Financing Guns

Cerberus Capital own all sorts of companies including Albertsons, Covis Pharma, Inkeepers USA, North America Bus Industries and others. Around 30 they name on their web site. I'm not an expert at reading company books but the Freedom Group which owns Bushmaster had a revenue of $237.9 million up from $198 million the previous year. Their operating income near doubled from $18.5 to over $33 million. But Cerberus are divesting themselves of Freedom Group. So this isn't just a poor financial decision it is also pointless.

Re: “High-Capacity Magazines Flood Oakland

A magazine is a device for holding ammunition for use by a firearm. A clip is a device for holding loose rounds so that they can be loaded in to a magazine. Saying high capacity clip when you mean magazine is like saying you want new wheels for your car when you want new tires. It just makes you sound ignorant.

Re: “I am Annoyed and Disappointed

All this Landmark crud freaks me out. We had someone where I work that was trying to strong arm other employees in to going to these things. She tried this on me, tried to attack what she saw as my weaknesses. Instead she triggered the combative brit in me, I know my issues very well and having them exploited is not one of them. So I tracked down the others that she was badgering and reported her to management. They put a stop to her unscrupulous attempts at recruiting the less strong minded. Grrr.

Re: “Alameda's Webster Tube Falling on Your Heads

Well, I guess it's debris now, but when it was falling it was part of the ceiling. Unless they have been making the ceiling out of construction waste?

10 cubic feet of concrete weighs about 1250 pounds, around two thirds of a ton. Having that fall on to a busy road is not a minor issue, a similar incident in Boston killed a woman.

So... when they were closing it every night for years to remove the tiles, well didn't they think that the concrete not being well secured might be an issue? One would expect they'd have had a good look while they were down there all those long nights.

California roads are in a disgusting state. I took my wife and daughter to the UK this Christmas just to show them that freeways don't have to be like offroad driving.
