Re: “Burger Renewal

"Anyone who prefers the old Kwik Way would probably be better off sticking to Taco Bell and Burger King."

So where are the corn dogs with locally produced Miller hot dogs hand-dipped and deep-fried fried to order- is it Taco Bell or Burger King? I'll go to whichever it is as soon as you tell me.

Re: “Friday Must Read: State Lawmakers to Lose Their Cars; Quan Says She Doesn’t Have Secret Poll

Thanks for the post, Max- that is important information.

I seem to remember "transparent government" being one of Quan's campaign themes...

Re: “Oakland's Homeroom Says Welcome Back, Cheddar

Only a tool would stand in line outside for the privilege of siting communally with his or her fellow tools for mac and cheese.

S***-eating grins all around for Ronzoni pasta and hot dogs? More power to you Homeroom- take the tools for all they're worth.

Re: “Vinnie's Cheesesteaks, Urbann Turbann, and Northside Cafe Bring Life to Northside

The "the open-range, sea-air seductiveness of Niman Ranch beef?"

Perhaps the reviewer is unaware that Niman sources beef from 50 ranches which is now finished on commercial lots after being shipped as far as 1,300 miles?

Perhaps the reviewer is thinking of the sea-air to be found at Bill Niman's BN Ranch in Bolinas, founded after he famously left the company bearing his name?

A certainty is that vegetarians should not be doing reviews of meat dishes.

Re: “The Mehserle Conviction and Aftermath

Assuming your timeline is accurate, that Kaplan & Quan were not among the first to be arrested in the unlawful assembly demonstrates OPD's remarkable restraint.

What is the distinction you are trying to draw between playing chess and participating in an unlawful assembly? By your logic the wannabe anarchists (many of whom are actually wannabe communists associated with Revolution Books in Berkeley by the way) should just drop their rocks & bust out chessboards whenever the cops get close.

Hodge was part of an unlawful assembly and as such was rightfully taken to jail.

Cloverdale's Downtown Brown?

Try Lost Coast, located in Eureka...

Re: “Polite Asian Street Food

Do we really need THREE references to male genitalia in a single restaurant review? Throw in the lines devoted to the expulsion of intestinal gas and this review is a half-step away from infantile teen cinema.

And anyone expecting street fare from a place that prices their banh mi A.Q. and sprinkles their menu with verbiage such as "health conscious," "fresh California twist" etc. gets what he deserves.
