Born in 1960 in Montevideo, Uruguay, Edgardo started his professional career at the ripe age of nine, singing Tangos on national TV. He has performed and toured throughout South America, Europe, Africa and since 1986 he is a much in demand musician in the U.S.A. He has performed or recorded with artist such as Jesús “Chucho” Valdés (Irakere,) Carlos Santana, Eddie Palmieri, Keith Terry and “Crosspulse,” Omar Sosa, Jeff Narell, Andy Narell, Sovosó (formerly Bobby Mc. Ferrin’s “Voicestra”) Mike Spiro, Karl Perazzo, Orestes Vilató, Giovanni Hidalgo, José Luis “Changuito” Quintana, Salsa Romántica Stars: Eddie Santiago and Jerry Rivera, Joan Baez, “Los Muñequitos De Matanzas”, Jackie Rago, “Sol y Luna Band”, Armano Perazza and truly many more to keep count. Besides leading his renown Salsa Band “Edgardo & Candela,” and his 5tet “LaTiDo” doubling on congas and lead vocals, he currently plays with pianist Rebeca Mauleón’s Band “Round Trip,” and many local and international bands. A Latin Percussion (LP) instruments endorser for over a decade, Edgardo has lead workshops on Afro-Cuban Percussion and Vocals in many Universities throughout the U.S.A, Europe and South America and taught for five years at Folsom State Prison, a maximum security institution where percussion is part of the rehabilitation program.
