Re: “Nextdoor Lead Silences Police Complaints

Cinco de mayo is an American created holiday celebrated by Americans. It's not celebrated in Mexico. Every holiday has drunk driving and dui checkpoints. Only idiots take offense to that.

Re: “Report: Profound Racial Disparities in Mortgage Lending Seen in Oakland

Hi people , I am Larissa April,Last year, i had health issue and due to this reason i was advised by my doctor to always move on a vehicle in order to avoid the total loose of strength since my place of work was far from where i and my husband reside , i told my husband about my plans to get a loan since there was no other means so that i can get a good car of my choice but my husband instructed and advise that i shouldn't apply for a loan online because almost all loan lenders online are fake and fraudulent in there actions so i had to suffer the stress of not moving on a car for some months and i later made up my mind to apply for an online loan because i wasn't having any other choice at that point but still i was advised by my siblings to apply for a bank loan instead of an online loan especially due to the current ongoing news about online scammers but all effort to get a loan from my bank didn't work through because i was having a bad credit report so with all this issues i had to get my mind crossed by applying for a loan online although i wont say that i was so perfect or very careful for not been scammed but i strongly believe that it was the lords mercy of God that directed me to the AMEIR MILLER CLASSIC FINANCIAL INSTITUTE . the great news is that i got my loan funds very fast and easily and this came to the surprise of my husband and my siblings who had earlier on discouraged me on this online loan issue and the most surprising of all was that i was granted this loan funds at a very cheap interest rate if %2.5 percent ... i am grateful for this car loan and i am also grateful to the AMEIR MILLER LOAN FOUNDATION FOR THERE transparency and total support , you can reach them on email : or , text +1 252-585-5014 ,

Re: “Oakland Could Lose Control of Its Police Force After Next Week's Court Hearing

I'm with Councilman Gallo on this. Thanks for this further report. The 3 promotions need to be cancelled. In a normal workplace with normal levels of accountability, Holmgren would be gone when it came to light that he was trying to prevent career consequences for the home invasion cops. It is becoming more apparent to me that powerful members of the OPD brotherhood/family are like the too big to jail banks/bank executives---zero consequences except forgiveness and promotion....

Re: “Björk Breathes New Life Into Craneway Pavilion

My wife and I saw Bjork at Craneway and it was amazing. Intimate and mind expanding. The venue is a beautiful use of architecture / preservation and reuse. This venue is top notch. @vallejo could take a tip and put something like this on the edge of the Napa River. If we had a venue on the Waterfront we could be visited by Icelandic Fairies and magical performers like Bjork.

Advice for Meg: take the pile of money you made from the Golden Road sell-out and start a new brewery in Oakland.

Re: “Oakland Could Lose Control of Its Police Force After Next Week's Court Hearing

I agree. A full and complete investigation of the Guap case needs to be convened... By authorities outside of the entire Alameda County political/legal structures.

I was reminded by an article elsewhere of recent, past improprieties at the level of the county supervisors and find myself wondering how far up the culture of "cover it up" and denial goes.

When I see pattern of the individual "incidents", I am fascinated that anyone could consider any of this can be adequately investigated by city or county authorities.

Re: “Arson in Oakland: Is Someone Torching New Developments?

The ATF only makes statements for ongoing investigations. They don't have a web site where they make announcements any more than the FBI makes statements. It's also been reported on sfgate.

IS an announcement of a declaration of arson in dispute? Calling it "fake news"?

Just my opinion, but I think it's fairly obvious the "by any means necessary" element is at work.

Re: “Arson in Oakland: Is Someone Torching New Developments?

Still need a source on that. I mean, a link to the source, or name of the document...something that can be verified. I'm unable to find this information online.

Re: “Oakland Could Lose Control of Its Police Force After Next Week's Court Hearing

I'm with Councilman Gallo on this. OPD is clearly beyond the control of anyone in the city, up to and including the chief and the mayor, maybe even the judge. This isn't a case of bad apples, budget and personnel shortfalls, unions, or failures of oversight. OPD has turned itself into a sociopathic culture that's beyond redemption. They're so friggin' evil they poison everything they touch.

OPD doesn't come unless there's a firearm or death involved. So now EMTs get there after you die, too.

Re: “Arson in Oakland: Is Someone Torching New Developments?

Victoria, source is federal ATF. They detemined at least 3 of these fires were arson.

Re: “Oakland Could Lose Control of Its Police Force After Next Week's Court Hearing

Shiesty usually refers to an action that is greedy and/or inconsiderate. When someone is shiesty it means they dont think about others and do things that help ...

Wake up OPD!! Fire all who was involved in the scandal. Why should they benefit from wrong doing? New leadership.

Re: “Arson in Oakland: Is Someone Torching New Developments?

"There have been a string of fires since 2012 set purposefully to destroy new development in downtown and West Oakland."

How the hell is PM+ LOSING money in Alameda County?
One trip to the mental health ward (john George)
My SO was billed over $2500.
And it was just a ride, no medical attention was needed

Re: “Who Will Be There When You Call 911? Our Writer Plunges Into the World of For-Profit Ambulances.

This is the first coverage of ems I've ever seen in local press. Long overdue.

While you describe the business motivations of the various segments of the ems industry, you skip over the motivations of firefighter unions in this. As fire codes improved and older building replaced over the last few decades, staffing needs for firefighting have dropped. As population ages and Obamacare implemented/preserved, 911 medical calls increase.

But It is nutso expensive to dispatch an entire fire crew to every 911 medical emergency. Replacing firefighters with emt's paid at fast food wage rates is not the answer either, but surely there's something in between where the emt's would get paid decently and the public wouldn't get gouged by fire departments.
