Re: “Skywest Restaurant

This is one of my go to places since I moved nearby. BUT...Customer service is sometimes lacking.

Sunday around 1pm, it took awhile for the woman server to bring silverware, etc., to our table. My friends arrived and we made our order. We were the only guests seated at the tables and ordering food.

40 minutes later, our meals finally come out. My omelette was incorrect, not what I ordered. Friend's bbq double burger had no bbq sauce on it. We had to keep waving her down for everything we needed. MAINLY: our server said nothing friendly or welcoming to us at each occasion she came to our table. She was straight-faced, no smile. Yawning behind counter. We were the only ones seated and eating a meal.

This is not unusual here. So just come when you're not rushed, be prepared to 'wave' down the server. The tasty meals, freshly prepared and presented, and view of the golf course greens make it worth it.

Re: “900 Grayson

my favorite quiet little place for breakfast with a friend or two. Everything done to perfection. Try a little harissa with egg dishes.

Re: “El Jarro Mexican Cafe

I judge Mexican restaurants by their Chili Rellenos, and they are simply the BEST at El Jarro!! Get ready with a serving of soup, hearty and flavorful, while soaking in the atmosphere and decor. Feels like home, even to this Anglo, longing for past memories in the Gulf.

Re: “Anula's Cafe

I moved from my office at the 14th & Franklin corner in downtown Oakland and I miss Anula's Cafe. Anula is from Sri Lanka and makes meat and vegetarian dishes in her home style. There are different specials each day, along with great sandwiches, coffee and Sri Lanka style chai. I drop by to see say "hi" and get something whenever I am in the neighborhood.

Re: “El Huarache Azteca

Family owned restaurant from Oakland who bring a unique taste of Mexico City Cuisine. This restaurant has stayed true to its ingredients and Mexican Recipes. Huitlacoche quesadillas and the green pozole are among my favorite dishes. Weekends are a must for their smoke lamb.

Re: “Larb Thai Food & Tapas

went a few weeks ago In Feb.2107...3 of agreed....except for the papaya salad & the grilled pork intestine which was decent all the other dishes were too sweet & or other wise unappealing. Made me a bit wary of Tsai's taste references. Bangkok boat noodles with well done pork liver which as you imagine was texturally offal! The pork hock entree had very little overcooked stringy meat. sorry but Won't return..sweet family though good luck to them

Re: “Tambo Peruvian Restaurant

the restaurant is located close to the federal buildings if you are driving by is hard to see it. The food is really good and different good presentation and ceviches is a must. If you are looking for Peruvian food now don't have to go San Francisco Tambo is the wat to go.

Re: “Calavera

A great Uptown venue! The bar offerings, especially mezcal & tequila, are intruiging. And the food, based on their Oaxacan theme, is tasty and creative. Well worth a visit! Beautiful decor and superb food presentation. Wait staff is friendly and attentive.

Re: “1300 on Fillmore

we took a group of 12 to 1300 on Fillmore and were very disappointed. We had a set menu planned for the group but were served a completely different menu. Service was slow and quite sloppy, food was just ok. Lastly the atmosphere was poor, music was much too loud.

Re: “Oakland Grill

Best breakfast in the area, and a genius "off-the-menu" (used to be on there) patty melt anywhere. Always delicious, and quick, even during busy weekday lunch. The staff are charming, bright, and exceptional.

Re: “Priya Indian Cuisine

Excellent recommendation EBX. I tried Dal Makhani and Palak Paneer today, they were both very good. I wish I had told them to make it hotter but I forgot.

As a Desi I can attest to the quality. More importantly they use good oils and probably use it only once, there is no need to explain this further most people will understand why.

I'll follow up when I try the Southern Indian food. Nice people too and I nicknamed the Owner(?) "Mr. Grumpy." In a nice way of course.
