Re: “A Scavenger Hunt in Temescal That Aims to Spotlight Small Businesses

This sounds awesome! I want to bring my family when they come to visit in a couple of months. Would love to see the Black-owned-business tour come to life.

Re: “Laney Students and Staff Express Concerns About the A’s Ballpark Plans

Everybody likes the imagine their worst-case scenario. We don't have the problems these interview subjects speculate around the Coliseum, so I fail to see how moving the same crowd closer to Laney is going to make them (us) go buck wild.

Re: “Laney Students and Staff Express Concerns About the A’s Ballpark Plans

I would highly encourage that everyone who has issues or concerns with why the A's picked this site either visit, which has many of the answers to your concerns already listed, or by emailing/tweeting team president Dave Kaval.

This project is not going to hurt Laney or the surrounding area at all. In fact, this project can help make Laney better.

Re: “Wednesday’s Briefing: Schaaf Proposes Sanctioned Homeless Camps; Oakland May Miss Jan. 1 Deadline for Legal Pot

There's no constructive reason for denegrating Mayor Schaaf. Libby Schaaf loves her hometown and is determined to improve the lot of homeless men, women and children. Attend your City Council meetings, consider proposals and choose to be part of the solution.

Re: “Warriors Pay $786,998 for 2017 Oakland Victory Parade

This seems like a shakedown by Oakland city officials to me, a 2015 parade costs $244K, yet 2 years later a parade costs $816K, inflation is not that high. If the estimate given was around $300K, how on earth can the city justify the actual bill of $816K ?

Re: “The Benefits of Pasture-Raised Meat

I am Mr Adrian Dalsey From USA a DHL worker.
It is no longer news that the Acquired immune deficiency syndrome Herpes Virus is increasing by the day. The fear is that many people living with the sickness are scared of saying it because of the stigma that comes along with it.I am bold enough among many others to state that there is now a potent cure to this sickness but many are unaware of it. I discovered that I was infected with the virus 3 months ago, after a medical check-up. My doctor told me and I was shocked, confused and felt like my world has crumbled. I was dying slowly due to the announcement of my medical practitioner but he assured me that I could leave a normal life if I took my medications (as there was no medically known cure to Herpes). I went from churches to churches but soon found that my case needed urgent attention as I was growing lean due to fear of dying anytime soon. In a bid to look for a lasting solution to my predicament, I sought for solutions from the voodoo world. I went online and searched for every powerful trado-medical practitioner that I could severe, cos I heard that the African Voodoo Priests had a cure to the Herpes syndrome. It was after a little time searching the web that I came across one Dr Felix(A powerful African Voodoo Priest), who offered to help me at a monetary fee. I had to comply as this was my final bus-stop to receiving a perfect healing. My last resolve was to take my life by myself, should this plan fail. At last it worked out well. He gave me some steps to follow and I meticulously carried out all his instructions.
Last month, to be precise, I went back to the hospital to conduct another test and to my amazement, the results showed that " I am NEGATIVE".
You can free yourself of this Herpes virus by consulting this great African Voodoo Priest via this e-mail: He will help you and his herb medication is cure.
he has the cure on all this disease as he told me and it listed.

Re: “Warriors Pay $786,998 for 2017 Oakland Victory Parade

Did the earlier parade cost get covered? We started asking the city about it as soon as we saw the damage to the new plantings around 12th Street.

Re: “Thursday’s Briefing: 70% of Bay Area Residents Want More Housing in Cities; Ghost Ship Owner to Get $3.1M Payout

As anyone familiar with the art and science of urban planning knows, you cannot simply build more housing without taking into account, designing and planning finance for all the infrastructure required to support the increased housing. That's the facts folks.

One of the reasons we have a housing shortage, displacement of mostly poorer folks, huge freeway jams and a way-overburdened public transportation system, not to mention bad air and water pollution and a lurking longterm problem with water supply, is that we as a region completely failed to do the urban planning necessary to support the importing into the region of a huge supply of tech workers.

Planning is all about thinking about the future. No amount of partial patchwork attempts to provide a partial "solution" (more housing) will solve the interrelated problems of our region.

One fundamental approach towards dealing with these challenges is to begin to elect real leaders in our cities, towns and counties. Leaders who can actually lead and who are not tied to special interests which exploit a single aspect of growth, like housing, retail and corporate facility development.

We need to be able to get around better. The robocars Silicon Valley wants to sell us ain't the answer. For those who can think historically, robocars came from Big Auto's vision of an automated future developed in the 1950s. We need to look to a real future rather than to be led back to the past.

Re: “Another Unnecessary Sports Expense

Yep, we need to completely reconsitute the coliseum board, and then they need to work with the As to build an appropriate facility there.

Re: “Wednesday’s Briefing: Schaaf Proposes Sanctioned Homeless Camps; Oakland May Miss Jan. 1 Deadline for Legal Pot

Mayor Schaaf has been watching the accounts on TV of all the refugee camps in Africa and the Middle East. I'm sure she envisions time living there to be like her summer camp days when she was a few years younger.

Bottom line: World-style refugee camps aren't a solution. Nor are homeless camps in Oakland. Let's talk about why we are at war in the Middle East and why we have been at war with the poor. That conversation might lead somewhere.

Of course not Millie... Only government corruption counts.

By the way, where DO you think government corruption starts?

Conflict of interest wouldn't even be an issue to discuss if the officers had been disciplined and denied their promotions like they should have been.

Re: “Urban Shield Task Force Appointee and Gun Dealer Calls Police Critics 'Terrorists'

As an Alameda County resident, I am deeply disturbed by this threatening, disparaging and racist behavior by a public representative sitting on an Alameda County public task force. Given that this representative was recommended by Sheriff Ahern, I am concerned that the behavior reinforces a pattern of racism and antiimmigrant policy that I have witnessed emanating from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office: from strongly opposing the California Values Act to publicly supporting the nomination of AG Jeff Sessions. Especially at a time when white supremacy and militarization are so explicit at the highest levels of government in the United States, I am horrified that our county hosts a weapons expo and militarization training event for swat teams from around the world. I hope that the community effort led by Stop Urban Shield succeeds in redirecting resources to deescalation, community preparedness and nonmilitarized emergency response. Bravo for that work, and to all who hold fast to a vision of freedom and justice, on a foundation of love and care for each other.
