Re: “Local Licks

I caught Solcraft live at Beal Street in San Francisco. They rocked the scene. I was so impressed I bought the CD. I found the guitar solo's to be kick ass. These musicians have talent. I am going to catch them at the Octopuss Lounge in Pacifica in the upcoming weeks. I think you might want to come see them live. They are even better live than recorded. The lead singer is soulfull and true to this style of hard rock. I think you need to take another look.

Re: “Local Licks

Oh man, Antioquia is the greatest! Their live shows are SO FRIGGIN' FUN... super dance party mega good time deluxe. Don't miss the opportunity to see them rock the house. Anyone in the Bay area should DEFINITELY get on down to the show on April 3rd. So so so very worth it!

Re: “Local Licks

Thanks for the review, Kirsty!

East Bay dwellers should note that ANTIOQUIA (reviewed above) is having the big album release festival for the new LP "My piano..." at Ashkenaz on Saturday, April 3.

Music from Antioquia, Classical Revolution featuring Michael Bello of Albino, Wubakia (Santa Cruz), DJ Pleasuremaker (Afrolicious) and Drummm. Live painting by Drawing in the Dark and Alan Tarbell. It'll be a night to remember in celebration of a great little album (one of's albums of the week, march 5-11) and Easter, antioquia-style.

Re: “Local Licks

I have to disagree Nate...yes there are a lot of different styles blended together in these songs, but they work together beautifully! The accordion, the jungly-Latin vibe, the shimmering harmonies - all very graceful and well-executed, and totally unique.

I'm not even sure who to compare Astralingua to (Pink Floyd lost in the Amazon somewhere?) but they are definitely worth checking out (try "This Song" and "Contact")...there are so many layers to these compositions, and at least MY ears, mind, heart, and soul are all left satisfied. The music is honest, eerie, psychedelic...very cool and worthy of a serious listen.
