Re: “Cases Against Police Officers Who Sexually Exploited Underage Girl Known as Celeste Guap Fall Apart

Judges doing their jobs and seeing past the media hype and BS. The only exploitation in this case was done by the East Bay Express Darwin Bond Graham and Ali Winston. Shame on you for your false reporting and over hyping this case. Several good officers had their careers ruined based on one sided statements by the alleged victim. Nancy O'Malley should be ashamed of herself, no evidence to charge these officers. Vote Nancy O'Malley out!

Re: “C CASA Joins Lineup at Public Market Emeryville

Jenni Li is missing out -several of the places have long lines on a regular basis, and our favorite, Hot Italian, is always full - thankfully we can usually find 2 seats open since all the tables, except 2-tops, are shared. I don't care for Mexican but hubby loves it and C CASA sounds like quality good eats! I'm excited!

Re: “Oakland Approves 'Safe Havens' for Homeless Camps and Services

Is whining about whining actually just whining?

The problem in Memphis has no relationship to the problem in Oakland.

Re: “Cases Against Police Officers Who Sexually Exploited Underage Girl Known as Celeste Guap Fall Apart

OPD serve and protect only themselves. And Oakland City Government are culpable.

Re: “Oakland Approves 'Safe Havens' for Homeless Camps and Services

Come on Hobart! Can we find a way to deal with the blight that goes with the camps? Memphis has seemingly found a way:

http://prospect.org/article/battling-bligh…

Oh, wait... That means people actually DOING something instead of whining and waiting for it to be done for them, then whining more that it wasn't done they way they wanted.

BAH!

Very sad...wish you could come to West Oakland. We would have you, Spinning Dough Pizza, Ivy Moon and Stay Gold Deli...that would be dabomb.com.

Re: “Oakland Approves 'Safe Havens' for Homeless Camps and Services

Great article Darwin. One correction: we didnt use scrap materials. We used brand new materials bought by residents of oakland. And the frames were constructed from pallet spots.

Re: “Laney Students and Staff Express Concerns About the A’s Ballpark Plans

All these NIMBYS are the reason Oakland lacks opportunities for the poor and working class. They oppose all construction unless it's "affordable housing" which they think Oakland has the means to build them. They claim to be activists for the poor, but in realty they suppress the poor and POC from opportunities. As a person of color, stay the eff away so called "activists." You think you're helping us, but you're doing us more harm than good.

They're going to die there, like all the rest of the stalls. No one goes to that dump anymore.

They're going to die there, like all the rest of the stalls. Nobody goes to that dump anymore. If they had a taco place or a hamburger place they'd clean up but they're too dumb to realize that.

Re: “Oakland Approves 'Safe Havens' for Homeless Camps and Services

It will be painful to watch as the City throws roadblock after roadblock in the way of allowing any community group to set up a safe haven sanctioned encampment.

Nonetheless, the seed that has been planted - involving the community to make life easier for the homeless - will not die. It may take more evictions and more interminable Council mtgs, but I think the common sense of this approach and the vastness of the problem will eventually make it happen.

Re: “Oakland Approves 'Safe Havens' for Homeless Camps and Services

Schaaf: "The long-term plan is to get more affordable housing onto the market ASAP."

Uh huh. How many years is ASAP? Five, ten? "Affordable" means, what?, under $100k annual income?

More housing means more infrastructure to support that housing. Infrastructure like transportation for a region with gridlocked freeways and inadequate, over-capacity, under-maintained public transit.

C'mon Schaaf make a tiny effort to tell it like it really is.

Help cover up repeated sexual abuse by cops and get a promotion.

Law enforcement is held to lower standards.

Re: “Federal Judge: No More Officers to Face Discipline for Mishandling Oakland Police Sex Crimes Case

Racial profiling is a good test of ideology. If police stop Blacks more often than their proportion of the city population, is that evidence of racial profiling? No. Now watch this video of a double laptop theft at a Starbucks in Alameda. If you soon thought it was reasonable for employees and customers to be suspicious, was that racial profiling? No - suspicion is not conclusion.

Re: “Local Baker Says Walmart Stole Her Work

This is ridiculous and unprofessional Walmart needs to be held responsible and start talking, there has been no response after a complaint was made and if this how Walmart thinks they can do business then maybe the public needs to know and start shopping elsewhere as they clearly do not care about patents and the lively hood that sole business owners go through, they care only about there money and not the effects it has on others. Re: “Alameda's Boichik Bagels is a Game-Changer

All bagels, like dogs, are good bagels, especially if we're talking everything. Yes, even the awful ones. But to claim there are actually good bagels in the Bay Area is false. Serviceable, yes. Will I eat the life out of them every weekend? You bet. But come on, now, let's not kid ourselves. Authentic and Beauty's are fine, no more, no less. Matt A, you need a bagel education.

I wholeheartedly welcome the prospect of a new bagel overlord into our midst. May you contribute to everyone's ultimate goal of a bagel a day, whether they know it or not.
