Re: “Best Model Citizen: Leon 'DNas' Sykes

It's great to see who the mysterious Leon Sykes is - I read his posts about where we want the city to be and how to keep its character while improving jobs and housing, and agree vehemently when it comes to the issue of homeless people being treated like people! Thank you, Leon!

Re: “Best Model Citizen: Leon 'DNas' Sykes

Mr. Sykes is known also as a frequent poster on NextDoor - interesting to learn the rest of his story. Thanks EBX.

I second what Mary Ellen said - but more so. A well-deserved tribute indeed.

A richly deserved tribute! But the street is Bellevue, not Belleview.

All true and even understated. Tora is a genius at plants and community involvement, She's creative and endlessly generous with her ideas for community wellbeing.

Re: “Best of the East Bay 2016

Testimony on how i got my LOAN from ...

I'm Isabella Tyson from 1910 N Halsted St Unit 3, Chicago IL60614 USA,, i have been searching for a genuine loan company for the past few months and all i got was bunch of scams who made me to trust them and at the end of the day took my money without giving anything in return, all hope was lost i got confused and frustrated, i find it very difficult to feed my family and vowed never to have anything to do with loan companies on net and went to seek of assistance from a very good friend which i explained all my experience regarding online companies with and said he can help me that he knows of a Godsent and well known company called FUNDING CIRCLE PLC, he stated he just got a loan from them although i was still very unsure about this company due to my past experience but i decided to give it a try and did as i was directed by my friend and applied, i never believed but i tried and to my greatest surprise i received my loan in my bank account within 24 hours, i could not believe that i would stand on my feet financially again. Im glad I took the risk and applied for the loan and today i'm thanking God that such loan companies still exist and promise to share the good news to people who are in need of financial assistance because the rate of scams on net is getting very serious and i don't want people to fall victim when we still have genuine and Godsent lenders.. You can contact this Godsent company using the information as stated and be a partaker of this great testimony.. Email: OR Call/Text +14067326622 thanks

Re: “Best of the East Bay 2017: Readers' Poll Winners!

Disappointing, don't feel the need to call out some of these smaller spots, but Fenton's for best ice cream? Seriously? (i'm from oakland, yes it's a landmark that's perfect to bring your 12 aunts-nieces-nephews-from-out-of-town.. No it's not the best ice cream).
Maybe people should be encouraged to only vote on categories where they have very strong opinions???? Cause this list looks mostly like "most popular" or "names that comes to mind quickest"... as opposed to best.

Re: “Essay: Where Do We Get to Be Black and Queer?

I am thinking of moving to Oakland and was researching the black and queer community there and this article popped up. A legitimate godsend. Check out my blog, it's all about intersectionality and culture and music and the like. Check it out!

Peace and love.

Re: “Leavening the Resistance: Reem's Brings Traditional Arab Bakery to Oakland's Fruitvale

Eli Freedman, could not with you more! So sick of their "poor me" crap! They are supposed to be Americans, but they want to stay immigrants so they can complain about their mistreatment! Maybe if they acclimated to their country and denounced terror and their bigotry and lies things would be better for them. What does it say about their mentality when they have a life size mural of a murderer in the wall? They might as well paint a picture of Charles Manson on the other wall!

Re: “Best Glass

Uhm no, im exaxtly the person who names my bongs and take extreme care in choosing the perfect one. Well, when i went into Big Als one morning (no one else even in store), i was rudely told to leave bc "i wasnt buying anything." ofcourse i told them im just rly picky but walked out anyways. As i was leaving the manager even made a joke about my pajama pants i was wearing. Very unprofessional and just nasty. Been telling everyone to stay away ever since.
