Re: “Best Health-Care Practitioner Trying to Eradicate Chronic Disease

All doctors try to "understand the underlying causes of illness rather than treating symptoms." The human body is incredibly complex and sometimes symptom abatement is the best that can be done while pursuing more knowledge, but "conventional medicine" is engaged in pursuit of that knowledge. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

It's like the old joke: you know what they call "alternative medicine" that works? Medicine. The Paleo diet is more junk science in search of credulous people's dollars, and has little to do with what "cavemen" ate (anyone else read that article about the recent discovery of 14,000 year old bread?)

Re: “Best Do-Gooder Business Owner: Menbere "Menbe" Aklilu

Menbe is not a leftist hero. She was a solo restaurant owner who went on to develop a foundation. The foundation has supported her meals on Thanksgiving and mother's day where meals are free and services are provided. There are many of us volunteers who support these activities. We are non political. In fact, the RPA (Richmond Progressive Alliance) does not support Menbe's enterprises for various reasons. She worked her way up through poverty with nothing but hard work. We in Richmond will support her endeavors no matter where she goes.

Re: “Best Legacy Bearer

I absolutely love this article. Tall Paul and Tyrone Stevenson, Jr. aka King Baybe Champ are heroes in Oakland where there is a dearth of heroes. Keep soaring Tall Paul and watch your nephew continue to keep your legacy alive!

Re: “Best Do-Gooder Business Owner: Menbere "Menbe" Aklilu

Good for her!!! I seldom get excited about the leftist heroes that the EBX touts, but love ones who actually love humanity and give freely, rather than harp, yell, protest, engage in angry diatribes, and commit violence in the name of peace.

Re: “Best Way to Run Around Lake Merritt

circumvent the Lake in the name of the murdered villagers of DRC ...
the villagers are called "nothing" collateral domages
so let the billions of dollars of wealth & resources be "nothing" in our minds.... just a leisurely run around lake Merritt (or walk)...
review @DemocracyNow program 08032018 and you will better understand.
My group will walk as far as we can on disabled limbs for DRC and for journalists under fire in nearby countries to the US
may the Gods bless the good as well as the not so good amongst us....

Re: “Best Of The East Bay Finalists Are Here! Find Out Who Got Nominated!

There needs to be a hot sauce category. The East Bay is home to CA's most award-winning hot sauce brand, Lucky Dog Hot Sauce, out of Hayward.
