Re: “At Cam Anh, Banh Mi Dreams Come True

I used to walk to the Webster spot from Kaiser on Piedmont in the '90's when I was an RN & load up with 4-5 for & haul them back for staff lunch! luckily the Cam Huong on International is still around and parking is so much easier been going there for decades!! the best meatball banh mi! & great prices
good luck to the newbie!

Re: “Tay Ho Is a Vietnamese Treasure in Oakland Chinatown

I love Tay Ho. It is my go to restaurant in Oakland. The food and the service are always top notch.

Re: “Lao Taé Brings Laotian Fare to Montclair Village

Yeah, well, we were motivated by this review to try the place.

- the spring rolls were quite good.

- the tea leaf salad was very good but not excellent. I have had better (Royal Ragoon, Burma Superstar, Teni East)

- The meat in the shaking beef dish was terribly tough and chewy. Thin slices of cheap beef poorly cooked.

- the tofu in the tofu green bean stir fry was a chewy sponge.

Not going back. You must have eaten in a different place or their fancy Laotian dishes are much better than their simple common dishes.

Re: “Lao Taé Brings Laotian Fare to Montclair Village

Nice review. Especially appreciate the comparisons to other Lao restaurants for depth and context. The reviews are getting stronger lately.

Re: “At The Bird, Fried Chicken Gets the Farm-to-Table Treatment

I can't believe the author of this review would actually tell people to avoid the best part of The Bird. The regular chicken sandwich is good but the spicy is truly a game changer. It is truly transcendental and is not to be missed. If you can't handle a spicy sandwich (and yes, it is spicy), then stick with the classic. But the spicy is truly sublime and is worth every bite of enjoyment.

Re: “Hooked on La Grana Fish

#Stephanie, the place in Salinas is called maganas meat market. This website does not allow you to place the tilde on the n (maganas). Enjoy...

Re: “Hooked on La Grana Fish

Im blessed to live right by this spot and let me tell you, yes it is magical lol. Google it on your maps it'll come out but it's on 50th Ave and San Leandro Boulevard in Oakland of course. The tostadas is my favorite item on the menu so far. The fish tacos are the best fish tacos I've had and I'm very picky with my fish tacos.

Re: “Hooked on La Grana Fish

I'm driving through Salinas on Sunday, so where is this magical baked potato shop? I'm intrigued.
