Re: “Nextdoor Lead Silences Police Complaints

NextDoor Promotes Cyber Bullying and Hate Crimes

Next-door allowed my neighbors to cyber bully me online and use the site for public shaming. They allowed them to post my personal information leading to the endangerment of me and my children.
A neighbor posted false complaints on the site to publically shame a person they think they saw in a car on the road doing something they did not approve of and then posted the description with license plate number of the car.
Within a few days of hateful messages and public shaming. An original post was made by Mona Smothers, Christian Valley Park on Nov 2 in Crime & Safety to Christian Valley Park She listed a description of my car and listed my license plate to make false allegations of a dangerous hateful nature online.

This is considered public shaming and against the rules. After she posted my license plate number online and started false accusations creating a hateful conversations and public shaming about activities in a car.
I had people following my car and yelling at me and my kids in public for something I had NO IDEA about because this neighbor created such a hateful post it created a situation where people would see my car and stalk me or yell at me for things she accused someone in my car of doing online. These people have made me and my kids a target in the neighborhood with their claims and false accusations by posting my person information online. I did not know about the post until some stranger approached me and my children because he saw the post made with the false accusations and my license plate listed in her post. They identified me by the license plate number posted. They approached me and my kids about it inappropriately because they saw my license plate number posted online and now know where we live.
Creating now a dangerous situation for me and my family. I am now a target because my license plate is out there with someones angry post making false accusations and my kids are subjected hate or opinions.
This is not allowed according to the rules of Next-door but they did nothing to help my family and instead continue to allow the cyber bullying and hate crimes to continue online.
I am now a target of hate because of the posted license plate online with self-righteous opinions identifying me, my car and can be followed home or anywhere I go now. T

This is a dangerous world and a license plate or identifying factors in false accusations can be harmful to the safety of our families in our neighborhood. Public shaming on any social network is NOT allowed and the world outside of Next-door is a dangerous place.
Next door did nothing to correct this issue, and then froze my account for complaining about the abuse, public shaming and illegal posts made by the neighbor posting my personal information online. They allowed me and my children to be harmed and stalked and cyber bullied. They are bad people and should be shut down so nobody else gets hurt or is victimized by them. I take cyber bullying very seriously and NEXT DOOR did nothing to help my family.

Re: “Complaint Filed Against Oakland Police Chief for False Statements

As we've seen for decades, OPD is above the law. Get used to it. Even the feds can't do anything about it.

More trendy food items for the New Oaklanders who apparently have so much excess cash they can frequent white foodie takes on soul food...yet African Americans are getting pushed out of Oakland and the real soul food places close. Yeah, let's celebrate gentrification.

Re: “Town Business: Housing, Homelessness, and Tenant Protections Dominate Oakland Council's Agenda

I think homeless lives matter too, but what's the point in featuring a crumpled Steel Reserve can in the lead photo? Is to highlight the need for substance abuse programs for the homeless or to demonize them as layabout winos?

Re: “New Report Seeks to Improve Racial Equity in Restaurants

Here's some shocking news which should shed some light on this profoundly unenlightened piece: poor folks, mostly black and brown, don't get their calories at upscale restaurants.

Re: “Complaint Filed Against Oakland Police Chief for False Statements

It appears to be a tricky way for the OPD officers association to attack their supperiors.

Re: “I Was Kicked Out of Federal Immigration Court — Because I'm a Journalist

Federal Court systems have changed so much. People have rights! As a former Immigration Inspector - the Federal Judges I observed went over the acknowledgement of rights: Form I-826. It appears Judges in the San Francisco District have their own set of standards vice What Is Written. My wife had the misfortune of being in front of Immigration Judge Anthony S. Murry. He denied my Waiver Form I-601. """ I'm a United States Citizen. Decorated U.S.Marine Corps First Sergeant", with 21 years Service. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend my wife's hearing, but an Attorney did. She informed me, that Judge Murry denied 9 out of 9 cases. I WILL STOP NOW, BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO GET MILITANT.

Re: “Complaint Filed Against Oakland Police Chief for False Statements

I saw a young woman in Oaxacan dress walking up Fruitvale with an ICE ankle monitor, broke my heart.

Shame on Chief Kirkpatrick for helping Trump and ICE to terrorize our friends and neighbors. Immigrants contribute more to this Oakland than Captain KIrkpatrick ever will. This is bullying, not policing.

Re: “Entire Oakland City Council Declined to Cross Union Picket Line for Mayor Schaaf's State of the City Speech

SEIU 1021 members are Temporary Part time and permanent part time employees. The largest group (TPT) barely touching $24k. Its sickening

Re: “Entire Oakland City Council Declined to Cross Union Picket Line for Mayor Schaaf's State of the City Speech

Based on the City's response to my August 2017 public record request for a recent salary survey of all city employees, at least the SEIU 21 job categories covered by the survey are under-compensated. The survey did not cover compensation for fire and police.

https://oaklandwiki.org/City_govt_wage_sur…

Without a full copy of the survey, it's hard to evaluate the objectivity or accuracy of the survey. Several years ago the City posted a comprehensive survey that showed most City employees were at the top of the pay chart for the Bay Area. It no longer looks that way.

We need the City to post a full, comprehensive compensation survey. if they don't have one, the City should pay for one so we all know what the situation is.

Some of the city unions have staff that know the city's budget details better than many city staffers. If the city unions have figured out what costs we could cut without cutting important services, they should tell us. If they know that the city has to raise fees, sales tax, business tax, and parcel taxes, they should give us that info also.

If the city unions want to play the traditional union vs employer strategies of strikes, sickouts, and slow-downs, they're going to lose the support of city residents

Here's a list of Total Pay Package for all city of Oakland employees. If this doen't tick you off, then gosh. They are milking the city of money, while majority of Oaklanders are making half their salary package. https://transparentcalifornia.com/salaries…

Re: “Entire Oakland City Council Declined to Cross Union Picket Line for Mayor Schaaf's State of the City Speech

Have you seen how much so many city employees are making, most are making over 100K per year, way above what majority of Oaklanders make, and here they are trying to shut down the city at the expense of tax payers who earn way less. Fire them all Libby and hire new ones.

What is more overboard, shaming people for crossing a picket line or politicizing a place of worship in the first place?

Re: “Copper Spoon and Paulista Brazilian Kitchen Now Open in Oakland

Wow, Paulista's Brazilian home cooking was worth the wait. Terrific food with some surprising dishes worth trying, after you have the feijoada, and 24...no more than that, beers on tap. While the dinners were terrific I think the remodeling makes this restaurant a great place for coffee and a pastry with guava and cheese in the pretty morning light. I love this place.

Re: “Tuesday’s Briefing: Uber to Sell Oakland Sears Building for $220M; Dungeness Crab Season May Be in Peril Again

Before Uber gets attention, and Oakland gets more attention for rising real estate prices, it's important to ask how many millions that Uber has poured into the old building. It was gutted and huge construction and retrofit has been going on for close to two years.

Re: “Tuesday’s Briefing: Uber to Sell Oakland Sears Building for $220M; Dungeness Crab Season May Be in Peril Again

Obamacare sabotaged itself. Obama sabotaged healthcare. As the years progress the amount of subsidy required from the Federal Government has increased, with no end in sight. Obama could not get the funds from Congress. So he got the funds through executive order. Trump merely stopped the un-constitutional executive order. It would be great if the editors of this magazine could state things honestly and accurately.

Re: “Berkeley Police Reforms Delayed After Mayor Arreguin Weakens Plan to Curb Racial Profiling and Police Misconduct

Most thought the BPD would never have jumbo pepper spray to use on protestors . . but now they do. Jesse Arrequin is a shameful disgrace. What he and Hahn did, gutting the police reform measures, is regressive, not at all progressive and disgraceful. Shame on them. Jesse seems to have gotten in bed with the police since getting elected and his actions as mayor suggest his pride and public image matter more to him than the people he claimed he wanted to work for. He seems so eager to tap dance for the police union and the Berkeley city manager, a conservative who cannot be trusted. Shame on Jesse, Hahn, dee the city manager and, most of all, our new chief pig/cop. Why on earth would Arreguin and Hahn gut fairly modest police oversight, why do they try to gut efforts to address racial discrimination by BPD? What is wrong with them?

Berkeley police do not (and hopefully will never) possess Tasers.
