Re: “Berkeley Passes Ambitious Plan To Tackle Homelessness, Wants Ballot Measure in 2018 to Help Pay for It

The donor money is from the likes of east bay community foundation and a myriad of sources such as that not tax payer money.

Re: “Report: When It Comes to Mortgage Loan Servicing, Banks Are Still Failing to Comply With the Law

Hi people ,iam Larissa April,Last year, i had health issue and due to this reason i was advised by my doctor to always move on a vehicle in order to avoid the total loose of strength since my place of work was far from where i and my husband reside , i told my husband about my plans to get a loan since there was no other means so that i can get a good car of my choice but my husband instructed and advise that i shouldn't apply for a loan online because almost all loan lenders online are fake and fraudulent in there actions so i had to suffer the stress of not moving on a car for some months and i later made up my mind to apply for an online loan because i wasn't having any other choice at that point but still i was advised by my siblings to apply for a bank loan instead of an online loan especially due to the current ongoing news about online scammers but all effort to get a loan from my bank didn't work through because i was having a bad credit report so with all this issues i had to get my mind crossed by applying for a loan online although i wont say that i was so perfect or very careful for not been scammed but i strongly believe that it was the lords mercy of God that directed me to the AMEIR MILLER CLASSIC FINANCIAL INSTITUTE . the great news is that i got my loan funds very fast and easily and this came to the surprise of my husband and my siblings who had earlier on discouraged me on this online loan issue and the most surprising of all was that i was granted this loan funds at a very cheap interest rate if %2.5 percent ... i am grateful for this car loan and i am also grateful to the AMEIR MILLER LOAN FOUNDATION FOR THERE transparency and total support , you can reach them on email : ameirmillerclassicloaninstitute@yahoo.com or theameirmillerloanorganisation@gmail.com , text +1 252-585-5014 ameirmillerapprovedloans@usa.com ,ameirmillerfinancialinstitute@gmail.com

Re: “Rising Rents Threaten to Displace Oakland Nonprofits

Well Vince, this is a country founded on meritocracy and the notion that private property is the cause of income inequality, which they profess, is just pure hogwash! Housing attorneys making big bucks off of property control is not right. And please before you go on to any rants about prop 13 or whatever, ponder this people who own property put up risk capital to purchase it whether it is a home or a piece of investment property. These orgs want to nullify that.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

Again, the City of Oakland bumbles on accountability. How long will we have to live with a corrupt police department? What happened to the promise of commiunity policing as well? When will we get another mayor that we can be proud of and stand behind? Shameful! Can't wait for the next election, Schaff will be receiving her walking papers from me. Are our city leaders taking notes from "45?" How dare you exclude the press from an event they have always been welcome too?

To the two blame the victim commenters. How dare you? These officers abused their authority and should not be rewarded. I don't get your arguments.

Garry Ovalbach, how very shameful of you. You will never say that face-to-face to the victims of these criminals.

Many of you who gripe about OPD must remember that when and if you have an emergency, the very people you trash talk will be the first ones you call.

Secret would seem to imply no one knew it was happening. It's obvious people knew it was happening. Closed might be better phrasing.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

So the Mayor publicly shames the cops for screwing and being johns unto a minor, however goes in secret, to give honors to those same officers? Lol, in a church, where the good book reads "all things done in the dark, come into light"....What book are they swearing in on, lmao. Cockroaches they all are. The real victims are the young lady, the wives and families of the horny mid life crisis ass officers and the city of Oakland's citizens.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

When we are victims of a robbery or assault, or when we see a crime on the street and are asked to be a witness, this scandal has zero relevance to our trust of the police.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

It is no longer a question of "if" but rather when the Oakland Mayor, and from what I'm hearing, the DA will launch their bids for relection. I wish we would see some movement signaling they have the community's best interest at heart. If that is not forthcoming, the community has the responsibility and obligation to replace them with those who do. Gaby Dolphin Delegate AD18

Re: “Berkeley Passes Ambitious Plan To Tackle Homelessness, Wants Ballot Measure in 2018 to Help Pay for It

Ballot measure?!! Forget that, have Tenants Together, Causa Justa, and Urban Habitat to name just three pay for it out of their coffers! That would be the right thing to do and have them put their donor money, not tax payer money, put where their mouths are for a change!

Re: “Oakland’s New Budget — What’s in it for the Arts?

The activists are never happy because they can never get enough and would rather complain than take it upon themselves to help in truly the right way which is assist others in being more self reliant not subsidies. So tired of it all and the division they stoke via their mantra on social justice versus personal responsibility.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

This is sick and disgusting. If the police aren't subject to the same laws as the rest of us, what's to stop them?

Re: “Inception

I agree with the reviewer. There are plenty of flaws in the believability of some of the ideas and the foundation of knowledge that Nolan draws his movie about dreams from that seem to just be arbitrarily placed for plot points but, the largest flaw is in his understanding of visuals being used to communicate the sensational aspect of dreams. Unlike Satoshi Kon's Paprika which inception greatly steals from, inception does not utilize visual communication to portray the difference between a dream or even the similarities of life and dreaming and how dreams and reality are blurred. Everything is portrayed in a non-visual way. He just tells us these ideas about dreams and shows dreams the same as life, and if the concept is that it is impossible to decipher the difference between dreams and waking life he does not use visuals to show that as well. Christopher Nolan just steals ideas that he finds interesting from great art to make them into his tone deaf and action-filled blockbuster. The problem is not that his movies are boring the problem is that his movies seem to be intellectual and different from what we usually see when they are just like any other action packed blockbuster.

Re: “Oakland Police Hold Secret Ceremony Honoring Several Officers Accused of Mishandling Celeste Guap Sex-Crimes Investigation

Libby Schaaf is running for re-election on a platform of transparent responsive trustworthy government: https://libbyformayor.wordpress.com/
And the transparency over the Ghost Ship fire: http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/02/04/edit…
The 2015 State of the City address mentions transparency: http://www2.oaklandnet.com/oakca1/groups/c…
It is one thing to not admit the public, but not admitting the press to document what is going on is not transparent.
