Re: “A New Plan For Oakland’s Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is definitely weighted toward developer interests, a reflection of Mayor Schaaf's open door policy for developers. But to think of Ms. Myres as being a community defender. I witnessed her on occasions to side strongly with developers despite strong neighborhood oppositions. Her support toward developers was even contrary to City policy as laid out in zoning policy. I also found that her "design" comments were shallow and showed a basic lacking in understanding of the principals of Urban Design. Its depressing to think that Ms. Myres is the best Oakland's got.

Re: “A New Plan For Oakland’s Planning Commission

"We want an Oakland for all. Currently, planning commissioners are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by City Council, our elected representatives.

"Too often, these nomination decisions are made behind closed doors and benefit both their personal friends and political donors."

Well put. Oakland needs to elect a Mayor and Council Members who serve the ordinary people of Oakland, all of them, not just the wealthy and priviledged, out-of-towners and transplants. Those folks can take care of
themselves, and do.

Re: “Contra Costa County Should Unite Behind Marin Clean Energy

As a Berkeley resident, I look forward to when East Bay Community Energy starts offering Alameda County dwellers affordable renewable energy. Serving Alameda County is a big project: it seems that EBCE would do best to focus on getting up and running, rather than competing for customers in other counties.

Re: “Contra Costa County Should Unite Behind Marin Clean Energy

I would hope that the Contra Costa County Supervisors make the fiscally prudent and logical local governmental choice by joining with fellow Contra Costa County cities who already selected MCE as the clean energy agency to represent them. Why not go with an agency with a demonstrated track record of success?

Re: “Contra Costa County Should Unite Behind Marin Clean Energy

I lived in Marin where MCE started. The organization proved us with clean energy then and now that I live in Walnut Creek, I'm extremely happy that MCE's the great services are continuing here

Please consider MCE,it will be one of the best decisions the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors could make

Re: “Contra Costa County Should Unite Behind Marin Clean Energy

I'm a resident of unincorporated Contra Costa County - I live 100ft. away from the City of Richmond, but solar is unaffordable on my roof because of the miserable incentives from PG&E. I want my community to have access to locally produced clean energy - it doesn't make sense to wait and wait and wait when we have a proven system working now. Let's join Richmond and get to work.

Re: “Pardoned 'Crack King' Darryl Reed Says He Wants To Unite Oakland Neighborhoods

I can complain, because, while I was selling records on consignment and out of the trunk of my car, I'm told that Short was getting $200k from dubious sources to buy Black radio and Hammer got $170k from the A's and also dubious sources. I am not "hatin'". I am glad my brothas were successful. But, Quan is a $144 million-dollar criminal, who will never even be investigated...I don't know...If $3 million-dollar criminal, Reed, who did 26 years of prison time, was White or Asian, everyone would be saying how he had paid his debt to society and that everyone deserves a second chance...Quan was elected Mayor!! And, what crime did Too Short commit? Why besmear his name? Guilt by association? Yes...Everyone says that about Blacks in America...Wanna convict him for his lyrics? You got my vote! But, otherwise, he is NOT a criminal...The crime is at Youth Uprising, which has accepted millions in federal funds for a phony after school program and can rarely get more than 3 people in through the doors in a week...Is Pastor Stanley Burell (MC Hammer) a criminal, too? And, what about Martha Stewart? How many lives did she ruin, while enriching herself? How many people are rushing up to her to get autographs and to do shows with her? You criticizing them, too? What about Delorean? $24 million in cocaine in ONE DEAL and never saw ONE day of jail-time. They never even searched his house. He still briefly sold his nasty-looking cars. All of these crimes took place within a few years of each other. Reed is the only one who did serious time...What product is Reed selling, now? Peace and Acceptance? I guess we had better lock him up again for that? Further, tons of cocaine are still being allowed into this country by the government. You gonna stop hanging out with them? Bet you run and vote every time they run for something...Due to counter-intelligence and social service from Brothas like me, after the Million Man March, we were able to get the majority of our people off of crack cocaine...while Delorean was still throwing million-dollar cocktail parties... So, get off of us, Charlie Pine. You've got some work to do in Asian and White America, and the crimes appear to be a lot worse.

As a formerly incarcerated Woman from the Bay Area I am obligated to give back. I would like to organize a Bay Area Regional Talent Showcase and have competition in Academics, Sports, the Arts. From fashion to culinary. Pull this off and we might stand a chance in rebuilding our Youth!

Re: “Pardoned 'Crack King' Darryl Reed Says He Wants To Unite Oakland Neighborhoods

As a "Returning Citizen" aka Formerly Incarcerated man from Oakland, & personal friend of Darryl Reed, Too Short, & sever others in attendance at what I considereda monumental event, because I know that Darryl feels that his actions of the 80's led to what's happening with the younger generations, & the violence not just in the Bay Area, but throughout the country is a result of all of our actions when we were their age. Darryl & several other Returning Citizens choose to find what are the best practices & models that will reduce this youth violence. I have chosen to find additional resources for those that are Formerly Incarcerated & who still are that want to continue on with their education. Or from incarceration to institutions of higher education. In essence, those of us who have made mistakes, & have paid our debts to society want to contribute back to society in a positive way.

Respectively Yours,
LaMont "Monty" Jackson

"Too Short" welcomes this man who ruined countless lives. TS, you recall, was appointed a career counselor by the Youth UpRising agency (where Jean Quan kicked off her mayoral campaign).

Re: “AB InBev’s Corporate Craft Brand Isn’t Coming to Oakland To Make Beer Buddies. It’s Coming To Dominate.

Most beer drinkers in the Bay Area will support a locally owned shop rather than some nasty corporate conglomerate. Of course the ex-frat and sorority newcomer/carperbaggers will flock to it like they flock to Chipotle over real Mexican food. They can have it. This just means less obnoxious behavior in beer pubs for the rest of us. Feel sorry for the neighbors. As we know the City of Oakland doesn't give a sh*t about people who live here, only about $$$ for their political campaigns and their real estate cronies like slumlord scumbag Keith Kim.

Re: “AB InBev’s Corporate Craft Brand Isn’t Coming to Oakland To Make Beer Buddies. It’s Coming To Dominate.

Good work Nick. ABInBev's history of despicable business practices is remarkable. There Southern CA distributors were fined just last month for pay-to-play draft beer placements.

Re: “AB InBev’s Corporate Craft Brand Isn’t Coming to Oakland To Make Beer Buddies. It’s Coming To Dominate.

The design of this proposal does not fit into the feel and the look of this neighborhood.
Shipping containers should not be allowed to house a business of this size,
especially a brewery and a restaurant.
The proposal looks cheap and industrial, not a good fit in our area.
There will be a big impact in our neighborhood because of the noise
that a brewery of this size will bring. There will be noise from operating the
brewery and the restaurant, from constant day & night deliveries, noise from the need to
clean the facility, inside and out. Customers will no doubt cause late
night noise to the surrounding residences, as the present restaurants/bars
in the area already do. Parking for residents will be severely impacted, we have
been terribly impacted with the restaurants already here.We recently had an armed car high jacking,
we believe caused because the driver could not find parking!
There will be noise from the added trash and recycling pick-up that this business. will cause. This establishment will cause there to be an awful smell in the area from the beer brewing process. Outdoor alcohol will be available and Tech HS
is just 2 blocks away, as are 2 other schools, and
Thunder Road, the drug re-hab
residence is DOWN THE BLOCK from this proposed business.
Does this make sense? Does it?
NO!
We do not need more alcohol served
in our small area here on/near 40th Street/Manila Ave. There are several businesses
in the area already serving alcohol and food. The noise, litter problems,
& parking problems from these business is bad enough! Our quality of life
in this area is being further degraded due to these concerns.
Planners should not permit this type of business in this spot in the Temescal.
Enough is enough. Friends, write to Rebecca Lind at rlind@oaklandnet.com. before 4:00 pm on Monday, April 3.
referring case #PLN17004 and tell her YOUR concerns for such an awful business made of shipping containers in our neighborhood.

Re: “AB InBev’s Corporate Craft Brand Isn’t Coming to Oakland To Make Beer Buddies. It’s Coming To Dominate.

For those interesting in commenting on this application, write to Zoning Case Planner Rebecca Lind at rlind@oaklandnet.com before 4:00 pm on Monday, April 3.

Please note that the intrusion of national corporate interests into competition with truly locally owned microbreweries, while a legitimate concern, is an issue that the zoning codes do *not* address and staff cannot take into consideration in their decision making. Other cities (i.e., San Francisco) have some controls on chain businesses, but while several neighborhoods have been raising this issue since the 1980s, there has to date not been action from Oakland's city council on this issue.

Concerned neighbors need to talk about the design (Ick! Cheezy use of shipping containers, and the most garish colors of the '80s in the proposed paint job!), and neighborhood impacts: noise from customers; noise from operations, including end of the day cleanup of outside areas (blowers or other mechanical means?); hours of operations; traffic; parking (peak staff is projected to be 32! They are not saying how many customers can fit in!); time and frequency of garbage pickup (what kind of garbage is generated by 1) the restaurant function and 2) the brewing? I have no familiarity with the brewing process. Are there spent hops like grape skins from winemaking? What volume? Do they smell?); frequency and hours for recycling pick up; alcohol control where there is such a short fence, outdoor alcohol, and a major bus transfer point in front for Oakland Tech High School students; litter control for the block; where deliveries will be made and what hours; how they will keep people from dropping off/picking up customers in the bus stop; and any other impacts you can think of.

These concerns can all be addressed in Conditions of Approval for the project. As to the chain business issue? Tell your councilmember you want controls in the zoning codes.

Re: “Bay Area Law Enforcement and Media Failed a Survivor of Sexual Exploitation.

Trafficking Victims Protection Act – Bill Clinton’s Connection to underage sex ring
http://gawker.com/flight-logs-put-clinton-dershowitz-on-pedophile-billio-1681039971

Former President Bill Clinton was a much more frequent flyer on a registered sex offender’s infamous jet than previously reported, with flight logs showing the former president taking at least 26 trips aboard the “Lolita Express” -- even apparently ditching his Secret Service detail for at least five of the flights, according to records obtained by FoxNews.com.

Hillary Clinton is hoping that Bill Clinton's pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein is gone for good — as the filthy financier is reportedly advised to disappear through Election Day! New York City's Daily News reports that Epstein has been told to "lay low and say nothing" as a new book is released about the convicted sex offender. But that still leaves Hillary fearing how much "Filthy Rich" will expose about her own husband's trips to Epstein's private Orgy Island!

I remember asking Jeffrey what’s Bill Clinton doing here kind of thing, and he laughed it off and said well he owes me a favor,’ one unidentified woman said in the lawsuit, which was filed in Palm Beach Circuit Court

Moreover Epstein was invited to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding in 2010 amongst 400 other guests, demonstrating his close friendship with the Clinton family.1) Bill Clinton: Clinton took 17 trips with Epstein including 10 to Pedophile Island…
According to court records, Clinton “frequently flew” with Epstein aboard the investor’s private jet from 2002 to 2005, the year news of the police investigation of Epstein was first reported…while Clinton was never deposed, lawyers obtained Epstein’s computerized phone directory, which included “e-mail addresses for Clinton along with 21 phone numbers for him, including those for his assistant (Doug Band),” according to a court filing.

Some of the most shocking allegations against Epstein surfaced only after the conclusion of an FBI probe, in civil suits brought by his victims: for example, the claim that three 12-year-old French girls were delivered to him as a birthday present. But the feds did identify roughly 40 young women, most of them underage at the time, who described being lured to Epstein’s Palm Beach home on the pretense of giving a “massage” for money, then pressured into various sex acts, as well as the “Balkan sex slave” Epstein allegedly boasted of purchasing from her family when she was just 14.

JAMES PATTERSON’S New Book “FILTHY RICH” exposes Jeffrey Epstein’s connection to Bill Clinton & more powerful elites.

Palm Beach billionaire Jeffrey Epstein could face new criminal charges if lawyers for his alleged former teen “sex slaves” succeed in an unusual effort to overturn a 2008 plea deal that gave him house arrest, despite accusations he pimped the girls out to his rich and powerful friends

The 23-page letter, written by high-powered lawyers Alan Dershowitz and Gerald Lefcourt, was apparently part of an ultimately successful bid to negotiate a plea deal before Epstein could be tried for using underage girls in a sex ring based in Palm Beach, Fla., and his private island estate on the 72-acre Virgin Islands home dubbed “Orgy Island.” Epstein spent 13 months in prison and home detention after agreeing to a plea deal in which he admitted to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution.

"Mr. Epstein was part of the original group that conceived the Clinton Global Initiative, which is described as a project 'bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges,” read the July 2007 letter to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of Florida. “Focuses of this initiative include poverty, climate change, global health, and religious and ethnic conflicts.”
