Re: “Restaurant Shuffle on Broadway in Oakland

Is Hayward becoming the new Oakland? Not sure of a rent comparison, but there are certainly empty storefronts on the main drag there which could be occupied by restaurants feeling a squeeze from the high rents of downtown and uptown Oakland. We recently had a fun meal with friends at Buffalo Bills Brewery in downtown Hayward (1082 B Street), not to mention enjoyed their brews and took home a six pack of high octane IPA.

Re: “Restaurant Shuffle on Broadway in Oakland

Yep. That new minimum wage has done wonders for the restaurant business. It is booming now, as old places go out of business and new ones try to make it and fail. I've seen prices rise, staff cut, and service deteriorate, but the remaining few workers get great wages.

In the Grand Lake neighborhood, Grand Lake Kitchen will have a special cocktail list and will donate $2 for each one purchased. At Lin Jia Asian Kitchen, they'll donate $2 when you purchase any of their special menu items and the owner will also match that amount.

Re: “Oaxanukkah

Shalom, Matt:
As they say over here: Kol ha Cavod, ( all honors to you)! For making such an innovative menu in your restaurant. As a native San Franciscan and Berkeley alum, I wish we had known about you and had time to visit your restaurant when we spent a week visiting my brother in his nursing home in San Rafael. Unfortunately, he died two months later. And meantime, we returned to Beersheba, Israel, where we live.
