Re: “Oakland Delays Pot-Tax Vote, but 'Damage Already Done'

I was surprised recently that the retail prices for strictly medical use stuff like topicals and subdermal patches were not lower in surrounding locales than Oakland.

Re: “Oakland Delays Pot-Tax Vote, but 'Damage Already Done'

Can you tell which city staff made the claim about the following quote? "But then came a series of delays as various other actors weighed in: chiefly, the city staff, which warned that cutting the tax would hit the budget too hard, and eat into promised salary hikes."

Re: “Is Oakland Really Going to Cut Pot Taxes This Time?

According to the staff reports this will cut a hole in the budget of $4-9.6 million. How will that be handled?

Re: “Is Oakland Really Going to Cut Pot Taxes This Time?

Yet again, the "couneliliare" screwed up trying to get every penny so they could wast them for city beautification (see the rebuild around lake merrit that ran for nearly six years) and other "civic pride" boondoggles.

Re: “Oakland Wrestles With Bewildering Pot-Tax Proposals

Oakland painted itself into a fiscal corner through years of promising employees retirement benefits without funding them. Now when our local economy is booming we should be sitting pretty. Instead, City Hall is having to make many decisions based on how much revenue something will generate. That influences every decision from development approvals to marijuana taxes.

Still, it was nice to dream that we could grow our way out of our fiscal problems like SF.

Re: “Is Going Sublingual the Best Alternative to Vaping?

Seems like Hi-Fidelity, next door and related to the awesome Amoeba Records on Telegraph in Berkeley, is the place to find these. I'm going to try them, too!

Re: “Is Going Sublingual the Best Alternative to Vaping?

Used to love strips back in medical only days. Then they disappeared. Where can one purchase these? I'm totally in.

Re: “Unease at Eaze

RE: "Altogether, this saga could serve as an object lesson: when companies (or media outlets) operate in good faith and with as much transparency as possible, things tend to go much more smoothly, even during rough times."

It could so serve-but it does not. This is a media outlet-and this story does not read like "good faith" and/or "transparency" to me.

Rather, it reads like the author needed to make his column inch quota-and picked this non newsworthy item to do it with. (B-o-r-i-n-g)

Companies upsize and downsize all the time-it is the pulse of business on display. Cannabis is a new industry seeking to establish itself in the consumer marketplace. That it will go thru all sorts of dull fits and starts as that transpires, is hardly "newsworthy".....or interesting.

Honestly, I care that this author wanted to buy a vape pen and use a credit card to do it? Really? Well, I do not. Retail Cannabis is a cash business for a reason-and the industry itself is not the sponsor of that. (And no, I am in no way affiliated with any of it, just reading the local news here.)

How about cutting emerging businesses some slack as they work to become established.

How about leaving us readers with the sum of your consumer experience as successfully produced by Eaze? But nope-negative press is du jour and the article is a ding to Eaze's rep instead.

This piece makes Eaze ultimately sound nefarious, evasive, and well---broken!

No wonder people avoid the news and have developed such short attention spans....pieces like this are a solid waste of their time. And there are far too many of them.

Thank you Eaze for finally getting a vape pen into this article author's hand where it sounds as though it may be needed! :)

Re: “Responses to The Vaping Crisis Are Insane at All Levels

altho this report doesn't talk about recent reports about vaping devices exploding during use and causing injury, it's very informative.…

Re: “Illegal Vapes are Killing People. Blame the 'Legal Market'

Car smoke kills more than cigarettes.
Cigarettes kill more than vaporizors.

Re: “Illegal Vapes are Killing People. Blame the 'Legal Market'

Prohibition is what is allowing this and nothing else! Bathtub gin was dangerous also!

Re: “The Trouble With Cannabis Vapes

Just maybe state and local govts should have gone slower legalizing marijuana. No one reads the warning signs at the dispensaries that say the products have not been tested for safety or effectiveness any more than tobacco users read the warnings on tobacco packages.

Re: “The Trouble With Cannabis Vapes

Wow!!! Acute lethal lung disease sounds, well, kind of bad. We won't know for 20 years what the long-term chronic problems will be. These are hugely popular products with teens, who want a no smell high at home or school. Maybe we should put down the pot a minute; instead of inventing new ingestion routes and waiting for new diseases and disorders. This industry is experimenting on teens; we wouldn't let big pharma act this way.

Re: “The Trouble With Cannabis Vapes

My question too. I use a volcano and / or a Crafty. They just use straight plant matter with hot air going through. Perhaps an express follow up

Re: “The Trouble With Cannabis Vapes

Can you distinguish any differences between vaping cannabis oil, cannabis extract "shatter" and cannabis plant matter. There are many different kinds of vapes on the market

Re: “These are Your Democrats on Pot

Marijuana consumers deserve and demand equal rights and protections under our laws that are currently afforded to the drinkers of far more dangerous and deadly, yet perfectly legal, widely accepted, endlessly advertised and even glorified as an All-American pastime, alcohol.

Plain and simple!

Legalize Nationwide!

It's time for us, the majority of The People to take back control of our national marijuana policy. By voting OUT of office any and all politicians who very publicly and vocally admit to having an anti-marijuana, prohibitionist agenda! Time to vote'em all OUT of office. Period. Plain and simple.

Politicians who continue to demonize Marijuana, Corrupt Law Enforcement Officials who prefer to ruin peoples lives over Marijuana possession rather than solve real crimes who fund their departments toys and salaries with monies acquired through Marijuana home raids, seizures and forfeitures, and so-called "Addiction Specialists" who make their income off of the judicial misfortunes of our citizens who choose marijuana, - Your actions go against The Will of The People and Your Days In Office Are Numbered! Find new careers before you don't have one.

The People have spoken! Get on-board with Marijuana Legalization Nationwide, or be left behind and find new careers. Your choice.

Re: “Oakland Police and the Great Fruitvale Cannabis Giveaway

Six thousand plants and none of the adjacent tenants nor the building manager smelled them day after day? Ha. We had a neighbor who grew 300 plants in his fairly well sealed garage, harvesting in the wee hours and selling into a wholesale network. You couldn't miss it, and after awhile you couldn't mistake it for occasional or frequent use. OPD, County Sheriffs, and ATF showed up with rifles drawn one day, seized his plants and his rifle.
