Re: “California's Massive Pot Bust

Thom, this paragraph is right there in the story. It's fairly long and hard to miss. Is your issue that I should have measured it by county, or....?

And thanks to the fact that local governments get to decide whether cannabis can be sold within their borders, about 80 percent of the state's cities and towns are not served by a cannabis shop. As a result, only 600 or so retail shops are operating in California. In Colorado, which has about one-sixth of California's population, there are about 560 shops up and running.

Re: “California's Massive Pot Bust

This " news " article forgot to mention the number one reason the
" LEGAL LIES " ....market is hurting ......is its only available in 30 of the 58 counties in CA.......I know most never look at the whole issue....but its not rocket science if you want to bolster sales.....is first the product must be available .....

But it isnt ......

Re: “Eating Mushrooms Isn’t Like Smoking a Joint

Adrienne: Dan Mitchell, the writer, here. First, yes, I'm looking into the DMT, etc. issue right now in fact, so thanks for that.

As far as the "babysitter" thing. I sort of agree, but *some* people definitely need someone around, especially the first time. Shrooms can be very unpredictable, and everything depends on (besides the particular shrooms being used) the individual and the environment. That's the only point I really wanted to make. I've seen people freak out on them, and it's not pretty.

The person who said they shouldn't be used for partying sees them as a healing plant, period. And I respect his view, which I think is valid. On the other other hand, I only ever used them purely for fun -- i.e., partying. Also valid!

Thanks for reading, and for weighing in. If you want to discuss further: thepoteconomy@gmail.com

Re: “Eating Mushrooms Isn’t Like Smoking a Joint

This article also fails to mention an important point about the law passed in Oakland. Did you hear about this? I doubt it. The mainstream media is NOT reporting this, but I am. I was in Oakland, California when the city council voted to decriminalize shrooms, as has been widely reported by the media. But this law did not only decriminalize shrooms, but all natural psychedelics, including DMT! (This article mentions "ayahuasca" as you can see but not DMT!) The city council meeting was amazing because numerous scientists and doctors, as well as numerous members of the public, spoke to the city council about how amazing psychedelics were. Imagine a group of people telling the government how amazing psychedelics are... I've never seen something so amazing before! The best part was when a doctor told the city council that dmt was so safe it was "like drinking a glass of orange juice." Luckily I got videos of this, because it sounds so far fetched that people might not believe me if I hadn't. Something amazing just happened, and most people do not realize how important it is! A few days ago, the economist's instagram post said that their article explained why shrooms need to be everywhere. Shrooms? Need to be everywhere? Yes, that's what the economist said. People who use psychedelics, who were until recently thought of as the scum of the earth by mainstream society, are now going to be thought of as priceless gems who are going to save society. This is very important news! Here is a link to my video which includes footage of "dr dmt" addressing the Oakland city council. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=skhzHPmfqR8

Re: “Eating Mushrooms Isn’t Like Smoking a Joint

These comments are a little severe toward people who've used shrooms for years. Shrooms and other psychedelics are popular at raves, Phish concerts, and Grateful Dead concerts where many people are partying without a babysitter; comments such as "they shouldn't be used for partying" or "everyone needs a babysitter on high doses" are alienating and insulting to the people already using psychedelics.

Re: “Eating Mushrooms Isn’t Like Smoking a Joint

Whatever reservations people might have regarding the decriminalization of psychedelic drugs, can we not agree that problems arising from the use of such natural products should be treated as medical problems and dealt with accordingly? Sending people to jail for using mushrooms or marijuana is on a legal and moral plane with jailing women and their doctors for abortion.

Re: “Eating Mushrooms Isn’t Like Smoking a Joint

I would say that if someone is in a bad place, mentally or emotionally, they should stay away from Shrooms. They enhance or magnify how you are already feeling. They also make you very aware of what is going on. For instance, whenever I was pondering something in my life and couldn't decide, on mushrooms the answer comes to me, and seems so obvious. I have not done them for a few years, but want to try them again.

Re: “Big Oakland Tax Cut Seems Imminent

Dear Journalist:

How about listing what the competing city's tax rates are to give this story some substance beyond a "he said, she said"?

IE: some hard data to educate the reader.

Just a thought.

As for Flow Kana and their blue sky BS, thank you for letting me know that Oakland consumers should boycott their product-in favor of those who do not flee this fair city over what amounts to <10%.

Total taxes in Oakland to consumers is ~28% at present....I am guessing consumers in this market will support their city over Flow Kana's blue sky branding.

I know I will.

Buy local and hire local, because we live local.

Re: “California's Massive Pot Bust

Idiocy. This is like a band with a built in audience refusing to tour :)

Make it easy for people to open cannabis shops legally and make it easy for people to buy cannabis legally. It can't be hard.

Idiocy.
