9:03 p.m. Monday: Best Spaghetti Topping

Mizithra Cheese at the Old Spaghetti Factory

For many Americans, spaghetti resides in a staid world of marinara and meatballs, forever relegated to the list of childhood dishes adults abandon for higher tastes. Then, out of nowhere, comes a cheese called Mizithra. A grated topping akin to Parmesan, it turns spaghetti and sauce into a rich, sinful, and deliciously slurpy treat. It's a strangely unfamiliar, yet pleasing and addictive flavor, perfect as an antidote for that long, stressful day at the office when you wish you could just blink three times and wake up a kid again. Of course, with its gaudy, cheery decor of oversize chandeliers and green velvet couches, the Old Spaghetti Factory is the ideal place to enjoy yummy Mizithra and gleefully regress. And, with a complete dinner -- salad, bread, spaghetti (choose the Managers' Favorite with half tomato sauce, half-browned butter, and Mizithra), beverage (strawberry lemonade), and dessert (a scoop of spumoni) -- for only $8, even your allowance should cover the tab.
