Action/Adventure, Animation, SciFi/Fantasy
Under the watchful eye of Tim Burton, director Shane Acker’s race of zippered-burlap-bag men negotiate the familiar post-apocalyptic terrain — rampaging robot monsters, trash everywhere — in search of a secret cipher that unlocks humanity’s legacy.... You get the picture. Acker’s animated tale (screenplay by Pamela Pettler from Acker’s story) looks like a short that’s been expanded. Its visual intricacies barely register amid the general boredom of its humans-vs.-machines conflict. There’s nothing strange or eerie about any of this. Too many precise instructions and not nearly enough mystery. Featuring the voices of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, and Christopher Plummer (79 min.).
