When the wife (Joanne Whalley) of a cockney tough guy named Colin (Ray Winstone) runs out on him, the tough guy’s mates (John Hurt, Ian McShane, Tom Wilkinson, and Stephen Dillane) gather round to help him plot his revenge. Director Malcolm Venville and writers Louis Mellis and David Scinto have a blue-ribbon cast to work with, but the boys do little but sit around cursing like a stagey, mock-Guy-Ritchie rehash of Quentin Tarantino and John Cassavetes. Ninety-four minutes of tired locker-room philosophizing. Sets a new record for use of the word “cunt.” McShane walks away with the acting prize, such as it is, for the role of the gay mobster, Meredith. Everyone else mostly bellows. A waste (95 min.).
