Queer Latin Dance Festival

June is officially Pride Month, and LGBTQ organizers and supporters are already putting on an array of events throughout the East Bay. Oakland’s Lak’ech Dance Academy, the first queer Latin dance academy in the United States, will celebrate its one-year anniversary with the inaugural Queer Latin Dance Festival. Taking place over two days in multiple locations, the festival features several dance workshops that will be taught by renowned dancing instructors such as Angelica & Alfredo, the directors of salsa at In Lake´ch Dance Academy. Apart from the dancing workshops, there will also be a dance showcase and two dance parties. If you like salsa, bachata, cumbia, reggaetón, and hip-hop, don’t miss your opportunity to come support the LGBTQ community while getting your dance on.
