Where to Watch the Super Bowl

We're obviously Nationalists over here at EBX, but hey, we can always get behind any opportunity to day-drink, consume vast quantities of dip, watch Her Royal Highness Beyoncé be amazing, and sit back and laugh as the Bay Area once again asserts its unyielding dominance. Herewith, all the public parties we could find in the East Bay:

THE BROKEN RACK, 6005 Shellmound St., Emeryville: According to a bartender, there'll be happy hour pricing during the game, as well as drink specials.

CAFE V, 2056 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley: There will be a $4.90 pho special called Photy Niners, which is kiiind of all you need to know.

CAMBER, 1707 Telegraph Ave., Oakland: The brand-spankin'-new bar/restaurant will be open starting at noon for all your food/drink needs.

CLUB MALLARD, 752 San Pablo Ave., Albany: Per the bar's Facebook page, there'll be plenty of TVs and drink specials. (No food, but you can order delivery [eg eat an entire pizza by yourself])

HALFTIME SPORTS BAR, 316 14th St., Oakland: Oakland's newest sports bar, immortalized this week in Last Call, will, of course be doing it up this Sunday, with all manner of drink specials and the like. This place also wins the prize for the best Bowl-related Facebook art, if that's your criterion.

THE IVY ROOM, 860 San Pablo Ave., Albany: Albany's latest and greatest is offering "yummy food, Super Bowl advertising trivia," $3 PBRs, Bud Lights, and Tecates, and $5 mimosas.

LAKE CHALET, 1520 Lakeside Dre., Oakland: On offer here are five fifty-inch TVs; half-price appetizers, beers, and shots during half-time; and a pretty legit-looking bratwurst sandwich special. (Also the best view in the known universe)

MAKE WESTING, 1741 Telegraph Ave., Oakland: According to the bar's Facebook page, there'll be an 100-inch(!!) TV and potentially a pig roast.

THE NEW PARKWAY, 474 24th St., Oakland: For those who prefer to watch the carnage on the big screen. Note that this is actually sold out, but apparently there's a tailgate party in the parking lot.

, 901 Gilman St., Berkeley: Apparently they just got new TVs!

  • Pappy's!
PAPPY'S, 2367 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley: Pappy's may not have buffalo wings, but it does have a combined 700 inches of HD TVs, drinks for miles, and a Sunday expected attendance of at least 300 people.

PRIZEFIGHTER, 6702 Hollis St., Emeryville: If you've rolling with group of fans and non-fans (or, let's be real, just want to watch the halftime show and none of the actual sports), this might be your best bet: the game inside, cocktails and sunshine and normal Sunday afternoon bar stuff outside.

TELEGRAPH, 2318 Telegraph Ave., Oakland: Perhaps the only place on this list that will be a literal and not just figurative sausagefest! (Lololololol to the power of infinity)

TRIPLE ROCK, 1920 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley: One word: IPAX.

THE STARRY PLOUGH, 3101 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley: Reporteth the Plough's Facebook page, there will be "Two Screens, Lotsa Cold Beer and Great Food."

...And probably a lot more! Let us know in the comments, or email Ellen.Cushing@EastBayExpress.com

History-laden thrillers, intellectual capers, a romantic heroine with a Ph.D, a murder mystery penned by a MacArthur Genius: This summer’s best books — many of which have local authors and settings — are equal parts brainy and beachy.
