.Most Original Sushi

Mijori

Not your father’s sushi. Actually, it’s not his father’s sushi. Jimmy
Kim took over this Grand Avenue standout from his dad and spun it in a
new direction. The recipe worked — ensuring long lines just about
every night (except Sundays, when the restaurant is closed). Somehow
this inventive sushi paradise has managed to slip under the Zagat
radar. But Zagat’s loss is the sushi lover’s gain, as long as you’re
not afraid to be blown away by fresh takes on the traditional. Many of
Kim’s creations just can’t be found elsewhere, from the perfect crunch
of the addictive Double Eagle roll to the tangy 49er’s roll, topped
with salmon and fresh lemon slices. But even the more traditional
dishes impress. Don’t miss the crispy agedashi tofu paired with
an unforgettable sweet ginger sauce. Order the sashimi appetizer
— ask them to substitute all-white (albacore) tuna for the mixed
selection — and you’ll swoon as the buttery slabs melt in your
mouth. Aside from waiting out the line, the main challenge is getting
full too fast. The hefty portions will ensure you return again and
again to find your favorite combination of the fresh, lovely creations
Kim has crafted to culinary perfection.
