The Bay Area has quite a volatile barbecue scene. When locals aren’t fistfighting over who makes the best, or whether Flint’s or Everett & Jones is the be-all and end-all of Oakland ribs, they’re likely formulating their own sauce concoctions. But as is often the case, those who shout the loudest aren’t always the best. Case in point is Old South BBQ in San Leandro. Its selection of meats slathered in custom-made sauces can rival all the big boys, and when it comes to taste, Old South stands tall amongst the Q-mighty. Of course, the folks who work there won’t make a big deal about this fact. They’re much more interested in cooking good food than bragging about it.
