.Fastest Post Office

A Station, Berkeley

Time was, down in the wild West Berkeley flats, going to this post office was a thing to dread. Employees never made eye contact, your number was finally called after a forty-minute wait, customers bitterly griped and acted out in line, and there was always another last-minute form to fill out. Some patrons actually resorted to suffering at the downtown branch instead. Then, in what could only be called a miracle, all that changed in time for the Christmas rush last year. A new boss made sweeping changes. An assistant manager went through the long line plucking parcel requests and quoting delivery options. The boss ordered an employee on an overextended break back to work. Service with eye contact and even a playful remark besides the now-frequent “Next!” has become the norm. Parking along San Pablo Avenue is no hassle. Add to that the convenient proximity of such great shops and eateries as Country Cheese, Jamaican Soul, Temari Sushi, and Lanesplitter Pizza, and going to the post office is no longer a dreadful prospect.
