Favorite 200-mile ride – The double centuries Devil Mountain Double and the Terrible Two.
www.calgtriplecrown.org – A Web site for California’s hardcore long-distance bikers.
Favorite fuel – A challenging double century even challenges your digestive system. I personally carry maltodextrin (a goo of complex carbohydrates). Some people use Tums to get the calcium. Bananas are almost perfect. They’re easy to digest, they’re a good source of potassium, and of course they’re a good source of carbohydrates. To get the best bike food, I’ve discovered, just find a good Mexican place and get a good burrito. It’s got rice and beans which is carbs, it tastes good, and it’s got salsa in it, which replaces electrolytes.
