Movies at Pyramid Brewery

If you’re looking for a cheap date or somewhere to take the family, try Pyramid Brewery’s parking lot, where the rabble gather at sundown every Saturday evening in August and September. People arrive bearing blankets and old couches — though chairs are available — to take in free films projected against the building’s far wall. Last year, the films included The Shining and The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well as family flicks like Grease, Superman, and Liar Liar. For Labor Day weekend, movies show both Saturday and Sunday, and there’s a theme. You don’t have to be a customer to attend, but those arriving early might enjoy downing a pint of Black Fog Nitro Stout and scarfing some fish and chips before the show. The restaurant grills up a limited menu outside to accompany the movies, but cerveza must be consumed inside. And if all this is too wholesome for your angst-ridden teenager, you can always send the kid across the street to enjoy soda and grind-core at all-ages punk club 924 Gilman.
