.Best Steakhouse: Feeding lust for the flesh

Hap's Original

We’re not sure exactly what Hap originated, but few local restaurants can mimic it. A handsome place just off Main Street, with a neon horsehead hanging above the door, Hap’s is a contemporary ode to classic American fine dining, with cold cocktails at the bar, high-walled booths, and the kind of service your parents expected when they went out for a night on the town. The restaurant’s steaks are certified Angus — many dry-aged, instead of the less expensive wet-aged beef that places like Ruth’s Chris serve — with a crust charred just so and an interior just as pink as you ask for. May we recommend the béarnaise sauce? Of course, at steakhouses you expect to pay dearly for your indulgence, and Hap’s Original doesn’t fail to satisfy. Just order another martini to dull the pain and whip out your Visa.
