Ricky's Sports Theatre and Grill

Going strong since 1946 and pretty much unchanged from when current owner Ricky Ricardo Jr.’s dad ran the cavernous bricked joint, Ricky’s is the capital of Raider Nation, a home away from home for the Silver and Black and its over-the-top fan(atic)s. Autographed jerseys of Raider greats hang on every wall not occupied by a TV, and Ricky’s is always a madhouse — which spills forth into the parking lot — for pre-game rallies, game day, and the NFL draft. Gorilla Rilla, the 66th Mob, and a Raiders tribute band, Raiderhed, mingle, drink, and cheer with the tattooed men, women wearing short shorts and showing cleavage, and families (thanks to a “no knuckleheads” policy) who come for the action that’s punctuated with the constant din of “RAIDERS!” yells. With five big screens and 65 TVs flickering some brand of sports every hour of the day, Ricky’s is also a sportsman’s paradise, the kind of place where an Iowa State sports fans can watch a game on a Saturday morning with alumni. And the sandwiches are pretty damn good, too.
