Brazil Fresh Squeeze Cafe

This tiny shack on the corner of University and Walnut, whose menu is
scrawled on a surfboard, looks like it should be overlooking an ocean,
surrounded by sand and beach bums instead of concrete and pigeons. It’s
got a rough-around-the-edges exterior, but Brazil Cafe’s good-sized
portions, reasonable prices, and well-loved owner, Pedro, have earned
it a very warm place in the hearts of Cal students and other locals.
Service is always extra-friendly, and Latin music perfects the
atmosphere as you dine in plastic chairs under a canopy of Brazilian
flags. Every carnivore who visits swears by the tri-tip sandwich, a
messy, meaty feast served on a french roll and slathered with their
famous cilantro sauce. Neither Brazil the country nor Brazil the cafe
is especially known for being herbivore-friendly, but they do offer a
good veggie sandwich stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, corn, and shredded
carrots, plus an amazing mango smoothie. Delicioso!
