Huge brewing machinery at work, obscure beer offerings, comfort food like hamburgers and hot dogs, and a local vibe are only preludes to a little pint of heaven provided on the East Bay’s best rooftop for drinking and dining. Views of the Bay Area and a little sun are hard to come by in the East Bay if you don’t want to go to a hotel. What makes it truly yours is the local after-work or lunchtime vibe. Sample one of Triple Rock’s ten to twelve house beers on tap, among the forty it brews throughout the year. Do battle with Dragons Milk (6.2 percent alcohol by volume) and then seek refuge in the Mill Grinder (a half-pound fresh Angus ground beefburger served with ‘slaw for $6.25). Berkeley is notoriously foggy, so when the sun hits, don’t pass this place up. The rooftop is open till 10:30 p.m.
