Pyzano's Pizza

Co-owner Tony Gemignani is internationally celebrated for his dough-tossing acrobatics. He won the Trofeo Citta de Napoli Championato Internationale per Pizzaioli, something akin to the Olympics of pizza tossing in Naples, Italy, as well as appearing on the Tonight Show and on the Food Network. But not only are Gemignani’s deft feats of dough-flinging a treat to watch, but he and his crew dole out a decent pie as well; his crusted creations have made him and his restaurant a legend amongst Castro Valley pizza paesani. Pyzano’s delicious menu items range from classic to innovative, if not infamous (like the Soprano, containing meatballs that seem like they’re sinking into a cheese pizza). The margherita is one of the Pyzano’s best menu items: a Neapolitan-inspired wonder made with an unusually light yet delicious crust and topped with garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, and dripping with fresh mozzarella. Whatever you choose, it’s a pizza that you’ll delightfully burn the roof of your mouth with.
