Most lovers of Indian food have already visited Breads of India, known for its short menu of scrumptious Indian dishes and huge selection of breads. It’s a well-known institution among this East Bay crowd, as the owners draw on more than three hundred recipes for their main menu and an astounding 150 for their bread choices. But you may not have noticed that most of their ingredients are from sustainable sources. The meats are free-range, organic, and mostly local. The produce is also mostly organic and grown within the greater Bay Area. It’s also fresh and seasonal, a virtue of having a small and ever-changing menu (most entrees are in the $8-$14 range). So go and enjoy the bread, the cumin, the spicy curries. But also appreciate this restaurant’s efforts to make the world a better place.
