Tucker's Supercreamed Ice Cream

Marshall Tucker — no, not the musician — and his wife Verda left Chico in 1941 with plans to open an ice creamery in Santa Cruz. They stopped in Alameda for lunch and liked the Island City so much they never made it over the hill. They couple called their frozen creation “supercreamed” and it retains its advertised richness to this day. Natural flavors and real fruits and nuts are used in the 35 ice-cream flavors, 12 yogurt flavors, and 15 varieties of fudge ranging from raspberry truffle to peppermint to butterscotch marble. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see everyone from toddlers to old-timers eagerly awaiting Tucker’s homemade waffle cones and ice cream that has definitely withstood the test of time.
