.Best Gym: For us mortals, that is

Club One, City Center

Club One City Center is where Oaktown’s movers and shakers meet to sweat and ache. It’s located in the heart of downtown, a convenient place for local political and business leaders to work off their martini lunches right alongside everyday folks. The gym boasts a remarkable sixty thousand square feet and more than six thousand members, and one look at its array of workout choices tells you why. The lap pool is particularly noteworthy; although technically indoors, it’s located in a courtyard with no ceiling, eliminating the chlorine stench that usually accompanies indoor pools. The club also offers courts for basketball, squash, and racquetball, as well as exercise studios for Pilates, step classes, salsa, spinning, and kickboxing. Of course, you can punish yourself on the legions of StairMasters and stationary bikes, all while watching sports or news on the gym’s omnipresent TV sets. Take time off from your stressful government job and kickbox your way back to sanity.
