.5:00 p.m. Friday: Best Time to Shop at IKEA

KÖMMUTÖRLIK

You already know when to avoid IKEA: on the weekends, when it seems everyone and their grandmas are eyeing some brightly-colored modular put-it-together-yourself bookshelf or dresser or TV cart, and on weekday afternoons when moms are in full shopping force with their stroller-bound broods in tow. When, then, can you actually shop in peace in the maze that is IKEA? When everyone else is trying to get home: rush hour on Fridays. The freeways will be packed with commuters in here’s-the-weekend gridlock, but you’ll be breezing down the aisles with your cart filled with household goods so adorable that they all have names. There’s even no wait at the checkout lines. You might as well enjoy a cheap dinner at the cafeteria (Get the Daim cake. No, really, it’s pretty good) where you can look out the window at Interstate 80 and pity all those suckers stuck in traffic.
