.3:30 p.m. Tuesday: Best Place to Get Thali at an Indian Sweetshop

Lovely Sweets and Snacks

Lovely Sweets lives up to its name. With its silver paper and sprinkling of pistachio nuts, the sweets really are lovely. But while you feast your eyes on pista barfi, gulab jamun, and rasmali, you can also order something more substantial — for instance, thali, a complete mini-meal. With your rice, raita, and side dishes, you might get potatoes, chickpeas, or lentils, but whatever it is, it will be delicious and meat-free. If you don’t speak Hindi, ordering at Lovely Sweets may be a bit of a challenge, but not to worry. The staff is very accommodating and whatever you get, you can be assured that it’ll be good. Lovely Sweets is clean and pleasant, with posters of India on the wall and usually a Bollywood movie playing on the TV in the corner. All this for $6.50. Lovely.
