.2:00 p.m. Thursday: Best Women’s Clothing Store

Something Old, Something New

For seventeen years, owner Saundra Jones has been making fine affordable clothing for women who can’t drop thousands of dollars on Armani suits and Chanel ensembles. Instead, she buys used clothing in outstanding shape and resells it at very affordable prices. Her 2,400-square-foot store on Danville’s principal commercial strip is stocked with everything from Ann Taylor shirts to DKNY jackets and Kate Spade handbags. For women who dream of high-priced duds but can’t afford them, Jones has a designer room stocked with Armani jackets, Chanel pantsuits, St. John knits, and Richard Tyler pantsuits. During a recent visit, a stunning powder- blue Armani pantsuit was on sale for $415. It hardly looked used and sells for about $2,000 new. An Escada white linen dress with a rhinestone trim at the waist was $218 and a Kate Spade black handbag was going for $85. But Jones’ store has far more than just designer duds for those shoppers who want to spend less. There’s stuff from the Limited, Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren. and Finity — much of it for less than $25. Women flock from all over the Bay Area to both sell and shop here. Jones buys by appointment only, and she’s constantly restocking the store. This is the place to go if you’re on a limited budget but want to look like you’ve gone deep in debt to dress yourself so sharply.
