.The Express Hires New Managing Editor and Music Editor

The Express is pleased to announce the hiring of Anna Pulley as the paper’s new managing editor and Sam Lefebvre as its new music editor. In addition, longtime co-editor Robert Gammon is now the editor of the publication.

Pulley is the former arts and culture editor at SF Weekly. Her work has appeared in Mother Jones, AlterNet, Salon, San Francisco Magazine, Buzzfeed, and other publications. She’s been on Dan Savage’s podcast multiple times and author Cheryl Strayed called her one of her favorite advice columnists. Pulley also has been the Express’ theater critic for the past year. As managing editor, she will oversee the paper’s arts, culture, and food sections.

Lefebvre, a teenage fanzine publisher, longtime record store clerk, and independent record label employee, began writing about music in the Bay Area in 2010. Since then, his work has appeared in the Express, Spin Magazine, SF Weekly, The Village Voice, and other media outlets. Lefebvre also recently a national award from the Association of Alternative Newsmedia in the music criticism category for his work in the Express last year.

Gammon, a longtime investigative journalist, has served as co-editor of the paper since December 2010. Gammon joined the Express as a staff writer in 2004.

Co-editor Kathleen Richards has taken the position of managing editor with The Stranger in Seattle.
