.Montel Williams Talks Pot in Oakland

From the three-dot scene at Matier and Ross comes this fun little nugget: former talk-show host and medical pot ambassador Montel Williams wants to get in on the dope game in Oakland. The City Council has agreed to permit four big pot farms in Oakland, although the permits may be tweaked, depending on what happens with the statewide legalization ballot measure this November. And Williams has been bouncing around City Hall, meeting with city councilmembers and City Attorney John Russo, sussing out what he could and couldn’t do if he invested money in the cannabis cause here. Williams suffers from multiple sclerosis and has long touted the benefits of marijuana in easing pain and discomfort. Of course, our favorite medical dope advocate remains Rick Brookhiser, the longtime senior editor at National Review and one of the more unlikely potheads in the world — at least, until testicular cancer treatments left him too nauseous to eat, and he was in danger of wasting away until getting high restored his appetite.
