.Chevy Volt to Go On Sale Next Year in California

GM’s Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid that gets about 230 miles per gallon, will go on sale in California about one year from now. According to Bloomberg News, General Motors has decided to introduce the revolutionary car in California in an attempt to gain market share in the Golden State. The Volt’s battery can be plugged into any outlet, allowing the car to run only on electricity for about 40 miles, before its gasoline engine kicks in. Toyota, which dominates the hybrid market in California with its wildly popular Prius, is expected to introduce its own plug-in hybrid in 2011 or 2012.
