The new repair of the San Francisco Bay Bridge may not hold up over the long-term, so CalTrans will probably shut down the span again in the next several months to install a more permanent fix, according to the Chron. CalTrans officials are concerned the new repair may fail under some severe wind conditions. The previous repair of the same trouble spot snapped in strong winds last week, sending 5,000 pounds of steel onto the upper deck of the bridge.
