Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill yesterday that will force first-time DUI offenders to install ignition locks on their cars that test blood-alcohol levels, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The lock will not allow a car to start if the driver can’t pass the alcohol test. The program will begin in a handful of counties in January, including Alameda County, according to the Chron. The governor also signed a bill that will allow repeat DUI offenders to obtain restricted drivers’ licenses if they install the ignition locks, too.
