The City of Berkeley is clamping down on the widespread use of Aquatic Park as a sex den, according to the Contra Costa Times. Parks and recreation department officials say that men having casual sex in the dense bushes of the waterfront park has gotten out of hand, and has made it inhospitable to families. In the past two weeks, city crews have spent 140 hours, cleaning out fifty dens, where men meet for sex. The city plans to cut back the thick shrubbery and open up the dens so that sex seekers will be less likely to go there or other park visitors will report them if they see them having sex in public, which is illegal. City officials also say the dens have ruined wildlife habitat.
