Iowa But Not California

Who would have thought that a Midwestern state could end up being less discriminatory than California? In a sweeping, unanimous decision, the Iowa Supreme Court legalized gay marriage today. It seems more than likely that Iowa will end up with its own version of Prop. 8. But for today, at least, equality rules. And Iowans can say something we can't: their entire Supreme Court agreed to allow gay marriage. In California, the best we could muster was a single-vote majority. Let's hope the California Supremes take notice, and do the right thing and overturn Prop. 8.
