.Recession Follies: No Hope Till the End of the Year

Leaders in both Alameda and Contra Costa counties wanted to know just how bad the recession will get for the East Bay, so they hired UCLA economist Levan Efremidze to give them the lowdown. And according to the San Francisco Business Times, the news is bad, but pretty much what you expected. The recession will linger until the end of 2009, Efremidze claims, and the lurch out of it will be slow and long. But the East Bay is well-positioned to take the lead on emerging green industries, and its long-term prospects look pretty good. If only there were a roofie that lasted 12 months…
